Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 18 | April 28-May 4 | Doctrine and Covenants 41–44

The Lord Jesus Christ was pleased to see saints gathering from many places as the restored gospel began to spread across the earth. As the Church grew, the Lord gave commandments to organize the saints. These commandments would encourage them to live in harmony with one another.

The Lord also wants us to live in harmony with our families today. Just as with these early saints, we must strive to keep the commandments to experience guidance and peace from heaven. Jesus Christ’s promise is just as real to us as it was to those who first believed in the message of the restored gospel: “that ye may be gathered in one, that ye may be my people and I will be your God” (Doctrine and Covenants 42:9).

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Scripture Puzzle

Scripture Study

In the scriptures, we learn of the Second Coming and many things that will occur at that time. In D&C 43:18, it references a “tremble in the earth.” Without the gospel in our lives, we can feel “life trembles.” Complete the Scripture Puzzle as a family and discuss how you can remain strong and prepared for the Lord’s second coming.

Service Chain

Hands-On Activity

Serving others is serving God. As we serve, we not only help others in need, but receive our own blessings. Read D&C 42:38 and discuss ways you can serve your friends and neighbors this week. Use the Service Chain to complete one act of service each day and discuss how you feel when you serve.

Living Prophets

Surprise Activity

Heavenly Father speaks to us directly through our living prophets. Read D&C 43:1-7 and discuss how the prophet is the only true mouthpiece of the Lord. Satan may try to tempt us with false doctrine or ideas, but if we listen to the prophet, we know that we are doing what is right. Then play the fun Pick the Prophet game!

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

Hearing and Seeing

Hands-On Activity

Go for a short walk outside. Ask your child what they see and hear. Talk about each thing they observe. When you return, help your child recall what they saw and what they heard on your walk. Read D&C 42: 49-50. Teach that through faith we can see what God wants us to see and hear what God wants us to hear. Then, play the Faith to Hear and See matching game. Place the large cards on the floor and the small cards in a bowl. Have your child draw a small card and find the matching large card. Repeat until they have found all the matching sets. Play the game again, making the sounds for each animal/item. For example, “Roar!” (lion) or “Ring, ring!” (bell). Your child listens for the sound and finds the matching card.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“I Am with the Faithful Always”

It’s easy to wish the Lord would show us everything we need to do to be happy and successful. However, that’s not His way. Instead, we are to act under His guidance and do the things we feel would bring to pass righteousness. As He tells the saints in Doctrine and Covenants 62, do that “as seemeth you good, it mattereth not unto me; only be faithful.”

“Anxiously Engaged in a Good Cause”

We all want to arrive at our own “promised land” or “Zion” sooner rather than later. However, we cannot forget that the process of getting there is just as important as the destination itself. As we follow Jesus Christ and keep His commandments, we are changed to become more like the Savior. The trials that accompany this period of growth are essential the eternal reward of being with our families forever, for “after much tribulation come the blessings (DC 58:4).”

“A Faithful, a Just, and a Wise Steward”

In a world that revolves around money, it can be stressful to know how we can support our families and make the most of the resources we obtain. We should feel grateful to know that in the Lord’s Church, Jesus Christ provides direction on how temporal resources can be used to further His work. He instructs the saints in Doctrine and Covenants 51 to collect money, food, and clothing to help provide for each other. We also read of the commandment to build a bishop’s storehouse.
