Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 19 | May 5-11 | Doctrine and Covenants 45

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ may be far off… or right around the corner. While we don’t know when He will return in glory, we do know some of the signs preceding His coming and the promised peace that will follow. In Doctrine and Covenants 45:58-59, we are told that following Christ’s return, our “children shall grow up without sin unto salvation…. For the Lord shall be in their midst.” What greater blessing could there be than having the Lord physically present in raising our families?

Come Follow Me FHE lessons include everything you need to make family scripture study fun for your kids! Empower your children to love the gospel with our engaging activities. Start your free trial now!

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Break the Code!

Scripture Study

Teach your kids about being a “light” to the world by giving them flashlights and turning off the lights in the house. Use the flashlights while you Break The Code to study D&C 45:9. After you finish, talk about what it means to be a “light” to the world.

Family Flag

Go & Do Activity

Read D&C 45:9-10 and talk about how a “standard” was a banner or flag that was carried into battle to help soldiers know where to go. Talk with your family about the different flags they have seen around your neighborhood. Work together to design your own family flag that represents your commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Zion Fort!

Hands-On Activity

Gather your family together and make a fort! You can make your fort with things in your house like blankets, sheets, chairs and curtain rods. You can also add some lights to make it extra cozy. Once everyone is gathered into your fort, read and discuss D&C 45:67-71

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

Stand in Holy Places

Go & Do Activity

Show your child a picture of a temple. Teach them that the temple is a holy place. That means it is a place where we can feel Heavenly Father’s spirit and learn more about Him. Heavenly Father blesses those who attend the temple and those who hope to go inside someday. Read D&C 45:32. Teach that our homes and church buildings are also holy places. When we stand in these holy places, we can be protected and feel God’s love for us. Then, play the Stand in Holy Places Musical March Game. Play your favorite Primary songs as you march in a circle, standing in holy places. Talk about ways that your home can be like a temple. Share your testimony about how the temple has blessed your life and your family!

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“Be Strong and of a Good Courage”

Most of the Israelites heading into the Promised Land had been born in the wilderness. Few remembered the treacherous journey across the bottom of the Red Sea, yet all would experience the miracle again as they crossed the Jordan River on dry ground. This time, however, it was not a crowd of fleeing former slaves who worshipped golden calves. It was the camp of Israel, a covenant-making people who had proven their faithfulness to the Lord.

“Beware Lest Thou Forget the Lord”

Moses taught that faith is best nurtured through the natural rhythms of family life rather than through formal lessons alone. He commanded parents: “Thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way” (Deuteronomy 6:7). Integrating gospel conversations into daily activities helps our children guard against “forgetting the Lord” during times of ease and prosperity.

“Rebel Not Ye against the Lord, Neither Fear”

Moses did not have an easy time being the Israelite’s prophet. From constant squabbles amongst the people to outright apostasy against the Lord, there was plenty of drama he had to deal with. As a prophet, Moses knew what the Israelites could be if they stayed faithful. He told Joshua it would be less of a struggle if everyone could see what the Lord had shown him: “would God that all the Lord’s people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them!” (Numbers 11:29).
