Learn about the miracle of Mary and Elisabeth being mothers.

  1. Teach your children that it’s a miracle that Mary and Elisabeth were mothers. Ask the children who else they know that is a mother. Read Luke 1:37 and make the mom and joey kangaroo craft.
  2. As you color the coloring page tell your family about a time when your prayer was answered and ask them to share an experience they’ve had with their prayers being answered. Sing the song “I Love to Pray” in the Children’s Songbook. Sing it throughout the week.
  3. Jesus had a mortal mother and immortal father. Read Matthew 1:21-25 then play the names of Christ cupcake walk while you listen to songs about Jesus as a child. Continue to play until you read each name of Christ.

Summary of this week’s Surprise Activity:

Think about what it might have been like for Mary to be visited by an angel and told that she would be the mother of Jesus. Read Luke 1:30-35 and color the Son of God picture. Help your child hang it up somewhere where they can see it throughout the year.

“To Be a Greater Follower of Righteousness”

Abraham lived a life of violence and peace, of trauma and healing, and of promises and faith. Through every trial, Abraham trusted in the Lord and chose to follow Him even when his world was at its darkest. “Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord”

The phrase, “found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Moses 8:27), has at least two meanings that can bless our families. A second meaning is that Noah discovered the peace that comes from looking at life through God’s eyes. By looking at life with an eternal perspective, Noah “walked with God, as did also his three sons” (Moses 8:27) even in a world filled with wickedness.

“The Lord Called His People Zion”

In less than one generation, the world God created was filled with wickedness. One exception was Enoch, a prophet who taught his people how to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. As Enoch talked with God, he was amazed to see that the Divine Creator would cry at the fall of His children: “How is it thou canst weep?” (Moses 7:31). God responded, “They are the workmanship of mine own hands” (Moses 7:32). He was sad because each child of God is precious to Him. He grieves for each one of us when our choices take us away from Him.
