Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 11 | March 9-15 | Genesis 37–41

In every moment of Joseph’s story, God was with him. From his brothers’ betrayal and serving Potiphar, to a friend of Pharaoh and the savior of his family, at no time was Joseph forgotten by God. Through the good and the bad, he trusted that God knew who he was and had faith that everything would be all right.

We don’t always know what trials or blessings await us, but we do know that so long as we are faithful to the Lord, we will feel His love and be given the strength to carry on. Learning from Joseph’s example of faith, we can seek out our own “answer of peace” during hard times (Genesis 41:16).

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Flee Temptation

Hands-On Activity

Grab a magnet, paper clip, and two large pieces of paper (you will be using the paper to write some lists). Then, use the Fleeing Temptation object lesson to show your family what can happen when we allow ourselves to be attracted to temptation.

Prophet Puppet

Surprise Activity

Read Genesis 41:15-36, 47- 57 and act out the story by using the printable food (print as many pages as needed). Then, make the prophet puppet and discuss how the prophet can warn and prepare us for things that we may face. Share your testimony about the blessings that come from following the prophet.

Coat of Colors

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

Years of Plenty

Family Activity

Teach that sometimes we have dreams that have special meaning, but we may not know what the dream means. Heavenly Father helped Joseph understand what Pharaoh’s dream meant. There would be seven years that the fields would grow lots of food, followed by seven years of famine when the crops would not grow. When Joseph told the Pharaoh the meaning of his dream, Pharaoh made Joseph a leader. Joseph collected the food so that the people would have food during the famine. Hide the printable fruits and vegetables around your house. With your child, collect the food. Share your testimony that Heavenly Father will help us know what to do to help our families.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“If the Lord Be God, Follow Him”

By the time the Israelites had their third king, the nation split into two groups: the 10 tribes in the north, forming the Kingdom of Israel, and the remaining two tribes in the south, forming the Kingdom of Judah. The Lord called a mighty prophet, Elijah, to remind His people of their true King: Jehovah (Jesus Christ). Elijah testified to the people that their idol worship was taking them farther away from God.

“Hear Thou in Heaven Their Prayer”

Going from tabernacle to temple was a big deal for the Israelites. So big, in fact, that even those building the temple had to be worthy of the task. David’s sin in his lust for Bathsheba disqualified him to build the Lord’s house, resulting in his son Solomon completing it. For building the temple with a pure heart, the Lord promised Solomon that so long as he kept the commandments, “I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people” (1 Kings 6:13).

“The Battle Is the Lord’s”

The story of David versus Goliath teaches many important principles, with one being that if we try our best and have real faith in God, He will help us make the most of our efforts. Though an army was present and he was offered the king’s armor, David brought his sling and his belief that the Lord would prevail through him. It was enough: “the Lord saveth not with sword and spear” (1 Samuel 17:47) but with trust and hope.
