Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 37 | September 6-13 | Proverbs 1–4; 15–16; 22; 31; Ecclesiastes 1–3; 11–12

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a guidebook on how to be a better parent? On how to have less contention in the home? A word or two on having more patience and kindness? The book of Proverbs is full of wisdom given to David, Solomon, and others who sought the guidance of Heaven. Many verses, when read with prayer and real intent, can answer our prayers when we need heavenly guidance in raising our children, such as this one: “A soft answer turneth away wrath” (Proverbs 15:1).

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS
Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities
We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!
Wisdom and Wise
Scripture Study
Play the Pass the Parcel game while reading Proverbs 1–4. Instead of using music, pass the parcel—or gift—each time you hear the word “wisdom” or “wise.” After reading all the scriptures provided, the person holding the gift is the winner! They get to open the parcel and keep what’s inside. They might even share—if they’re feeling generous! After playing, have a discussion about what wisdom looks like and how we can rely on Heavenly Father’s wisdom in our lives.

Trust in the Lord
Hands-On Activity
Cut the Trust in the Lord puzzle apart and have your family work together to put it back together. Then, read Proverbs 3:5 and talk about what it means to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” How can you trust the Lord with all your heart?

Families are Eternal
Coloring Page
Read, summarize, or listen to Ecclesiastes 1–3 and 12 as a family. Then, color the Families Are Eternal coloring page together and talk about how the things of the world are temporary, while the things of God are eternal—like families, joy, knowledge, and wisdom.

Flower Feeling Jar
Family Activity
Ask your child to make a silly face. Make a silly face with them. Then ask your child to make an excited face. Explain that we all have many feelings—feelings are how we feel inside. Sometimes we feel happy, and sometimes we feel sad. When we feel emotions like sadness or anger, Heavenly Father can help us feel better. When we are angry, we can choose to use kind words to help fix the problem. Read Proverbs 15:1, 15:18, and 16:24 aloud. Role-play a scenario with your child where someone takes their favorite toy without asking, and then use kind words to solve the problem. Together, make the My Feelings Flower Jar. Have your child choose one flower and talk about the feeling it represents. Sing “If You’re Happy and You Know It” (Children’s Songbook, p. 266), changing the words to sing about different feelings. Share your testimony that we can find peace when we use kind words with each other.
