Though the writings of Isaiah can be intimidating to study, we are encouraged to dive in and embrace this special part of the Old Testament. Think about it: the word of the Lord straight from the mouth of an ancient prophet in your own home.
Isiaiah taught the people of his time and in our day about the importance of putting our trust in God. When we seek Him and follow Jesus Christ, there is nothing that can break our bond with heaven. It’s for this reason that the Savior Himself declared, “Yea, a commandment I give unto you that ye search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah” (3 Nephi 23:1).

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!
Scripture Study
Do you hear the sound of Christmas bells ringing in September? It’s never too early to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ! Go on an Ornament Scavenger Hunt to find the pieces needed to complete the Scripture Tree. After collecting all the ornaments, use Isaiah 9:6 to decorate your tree.
Hands-On Activity
Make the 35 Names of Christ Mini Book and read through the names together as a family. Explain that Christ has many names in the scriptures, and these are just a few of them. Share your favorites, and invite your children to choose theirs. This mini book is a great quiet activity to bring to church and read during sacrament meeting.
Surprise Activity
As a family, make a plan to visit a temple. If you don’t live near a temple, enjoy the beautiful video linked in the lesson. Before you go, pack a lunch and read Isaiah 2:2–3, 5 together. Talk about why temples are sacred places. If you were married or sealed in a temple, share photos from your special day. Enjoy a picnic on the temple grounds or in your home while watching the video. Make it a meaningful and memorable experience for your family.

Family Activity
Make a mountain out of pillows or couch cushions. Have your child climb to the top. Explain that in the times of the Old Testament, Jesus often taught the prophet at the top of a tall mountain. The prophet Isaiah wrote that the mountain of the Lord would be built in our time. Read Isaiah 2:2. This “mountain of the Lord‘’ is the temple. We go to the temple to learn about Heavenly Father. We can feel close to Heavenly Father and Jesus when we are at the temple. Show a picture of the temple to your child. Consider visiting the temple grounds as a family. Share your testimony about how the temple helps you feel close to Jesus and Heavenly Father.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a guidebook on how to be a better parent? On how to have less contention in the home? A word or two on having more patience and kindness? The book of Proverbs is full of wisdom given to David, Solomon, and others who sought the guidance of Heaven. Many verses, when read with prayer and real intent, can answer our prayers when we need heavenly guidance in raising our children, such as this one: “A soft answer turneth away wrath” (Proverbs 15:1).
As we continue through Psalms, we are taught that humility is required to recognize God’s personal affection for each of His children. Heavenly Father knows each of us better than we know ourselves—our thoughts, strengths, and struggles—and offers His scriptures as a light to guide us home through life’s darkness and challenges.
