Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 25 | June 16-22 | Doctrine and Covenants 64-66

We all make mistakes as parents. Sometimes our attention is wrongly distracted from a child’s needs, or perhaps we raised our voice in anger when we should have been calm. Do we seek forgiveness from both the Lord and our children when we do these things? Do we sincerely forgive our children when they err? As the Savior Jesus Christ plainly explains in Doctrine and Covenants 64, forgiveness is a crucial component of achieving peace in the home.

As we strive to feel God’s love in our lives, we should always remember that forgiveness is a gift He gives each of us. We can and should extend that gift frequently to those who make mistakes, especially to our own children: “I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men” (D&C 64:10).

This Come Follow Me FHE lesson includes all you need to make everyday scripture study a blast for your kids! Teach your children to love the gospel with our engaging family activities. Start your free trial today!

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Scripture Pictionary

Scripture Study

Read D&C 64:33-34, then play Scripture Pictionary together with the provided Pictionary words. Have one family member draw the word while the rest of the family studies D&C 64:33-34 in their scriptures to guess the drawing. Once all the words are guessed, talk about some small and simple things you can do as a family to help build Zion.

Forgiveness Hearts

Hands-On Activity

As a family, read D&C 64:7-10. Then talk about how it’s not enough to just say you forgive someone, you need to also forgive them in your heart. Sometimes, the people we need to forgive most are in our own families. Use the Forgiveness Hearts page to put reminders around your house so you can remember to forgive each other throughout the week.

Family Testimonies

Surprise Activity

Read D&C 66:5 and 7 and practice sharing your testimonies by standing in front of your family and saying it as you would in a fast and testimony meeting. Take turns using the foldable microphone as you do this. After everyone who wants to share is finished, talk about sharing your testimony by words or actions as you go throughout your week, at school, work, with friends, at home, etc.

Crown of Eternal Life

Go & Do Activity

Help your child decorate their crown. Use stickers, jewels, or markers. Cut a 2-inch strip of paper and staple it to the crown, making the crown fit on your child’s head. Read D&C 66:11-12. Teach that when we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, we will receive the crown of eternal life. This means that we will be able to live with God again someday. Teach that we are all children of God and can become kings and queens in His kingdom. Heavenly Father loves us so much and wants us to return to live with Him. God sent His Son to help us and show us the way.

“To Be a Greater Follower of Righteousness”

Abraham lived a life of violence and peace, of trauma and healing, and of promises and faith. Through every trial, Abraham trusted in the Lord and chose to follow Him even when his world was at its darkest. He was rewarded with a covenant that encompasses all of God’s children and will last into the eternities. This covenant and its blessings are extended to our families today.

“Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord”

The phrase, “found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Moses 8:27), has at least two meanings that can bless our families. One is that Noah lived in a way that allowed the Lord to strengthen him and his family during difficult circumstances. A second meaning is that Noah discovered the peace that comes from looking at life through God’s eyes. By looking at life with an eternal perspective, Noah “walked with God, as did also his three sons” (Moses 8:27) even in a world filled with wickedness.

“The Lord Called His People Zion”

In less than one generation, the world God created was filled with wickedness. One exception was Enoch, a prophet who taught his people how to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. As Enoch talked with God, he was amazed to see that the Divine Creator would cry at the fall of His children: “How is it thou canst weep?” (Moses 7:31). God responded, “They are the workmanship of mine own hands” (Moses 7:32). He was sad because each child of God is precious to Him. He grieves for each one of us when our choices take us away from Him.
