Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 5 | January 26-February 1 | Genesis 5; Moses 6

Parenting is not easy. The experiences of Adam and Eve show that being a parent has never been without trials and heartache. Yet through raising their family, they learned true happiness comes as we try to follow Jesus Christ. Eve said without the pain that had happened in her life, she “never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth” (Moses 5:11).

We should not despair when we find our children, or even ourselves, not living up to our family expectations. Each opportunity to start new and make a better choice can bring us closer together and closer to God. If we seek to plainly show love in all that we do as parents, we will discover the same joy that Eve did as a mother.

Come Follow Me FHE lessons include everything you need to make gospel study fun for your family! Empower your children to love the gospel with our scripture-focused lesson activities. Start your free trial now!

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Trust and Treat

Scripture Study

Read Moses 6:26-34 as a family and talk about how Enoch was feeling in verse 31. Then, read the Lord’s answer in verse 32: “Open thy mouth, and it shall be filled.” Have your children open their mouths while you place a treat in their mouth. After the treat, share how sometimes the Lord asks us to do things that may seem impossible, but if we trust in Him and try He will bless us.

Turn to Him

Hands-On Activity

Make the Turn to Him mobile following the lesson instructions. Then, read Moses 6:52,57, as well as the Fourth Article of Faith as a family. Discuss what we need to do as a family to return to our Heavenly Father.

Thank You Cards

Surprise Activity

As a family, read Moses 6:57-58. Take time to discuss everything your parents have taught you and what you hope your children have learned, especially regarding the gospel. Give your children time to write a thank you card to express their appreciation to you.

Walk in the Light

Hands-On Activity

Share with your child a skill or talent that you learned from a parent. Explain that parents teach their children valuable lessons, such as being kind and helping others. Parents also teach their children the gospel. Sing along to “Teach Me to Walk in the Light.” Then, hang the “Teach Me to Walk in the Light” scavenger hunt pictures around your house. Turn off the lights, give your child a flashlight, and ask them to find each of the pictures. Teach your child about the principles that the pictures represent. Share your testimony that when we learn about the gospel, we will have light in our lives.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“Teach These Things Freely unto Your Children”

From the very beginning, the gospel of Jesus Christ was taught by prophets to help families find peace in the world and obtain the promise of being together forever. Parents taught their children to “call upon the name of the Lord, and the Lord blessed them” (Moses 6:4). In today’s world, we shouldn’t hesitate to start teaching our children to do the same. From showing our toddlers how to pray to helping our teenagers plan a FHE lesson, we can bless their lives now and forever as they learn to “call upon the name of the Lord.”

“In the Beginning God Created the Heaven and the Earth”

At the start of each new year, parents plan out activities and events for their family to do during the next 12 months. We hope to make happy memories, build our children’s character, and provide a refuge of emotional and spiritual support during hard times that will inevitably come. We want the best for our family and hope that at the end of the year, we will reflect on how good a year it was.
