Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 33 | August 12-18 | Alma 43-52

It’s not uncommon to see the “war chapters” of the Book of Mormon as a lot of verses filled with battles and lacking spiritual significance. However, some of the strongest examples of faith and belief in Jesus Christ in the scriptures come from these ten chapters. Nowhere else is the consequence of wickedness and the fate of the righteous more apparent than in Alma 43-52.

If we look carefully, we can see similarities between Captain Moroni and people we respect in our own lives. Characteristics of faith in God, trust in others, compassion for the meek, and standing up for the rights of everyone are essential to becoming a true follower of Jesus Christ. These traits were essential for surviving spiritually in this violent part of Nephite history and are exactly what is needed for surviving spiritually today. For if all of us were more like Moroni, “the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men” (Alma 48:17).

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

This week, we’ll be sharing the gospel with your little ones using the activity book in the Elementary Bundle. Be sure to use the activity book for younger children (Level 1, Recommended for ages 3-6). Print your activity book pages, then cut all of them in half, except the cover. You will fold the cover in half to help keep the pages together. Put all your pages in order inside the cover and then staple along the left-hand edge. Make one book for each of your children.

We recommend spreading your time between the activity pages over the week instead of trying to do them all at one time. This will help your toddler not get burned out and give them something fun to look forward to each day! You will have fun coloring, designing armor, counting with dot-to-dots, racing, drawing and more! Read or summarize the chapters for the day and then assist your child in completing the corresponding pages in their activity book.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“To Be a Greater Follower of Righteousness”

Abraham lived a life of violence and peace, of trauma and healing, and of promises and faith. Through every trial, Abraham trusted in the Lord and chose to follow Him even when his world was at its darkest. He was rewarded with a covenant that encompasses all of God’s children and will last into the eternities. This covenant and its blessings are extended to our families today.

“Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord”

The phrase, “found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Moses 8:27), has at least two meanings that can bless our families. One is that Noah lived in a way that allowed the Lord to strengthen him and his family during difficult circumstances. A second meaning is that Noah discovered the peace that comes from looking at life through God’s eyes. By looking at life with an eternal perspective, Noah “walked with God, as did also his three sons” (Moses 8:27) even in a world filled with wickedness.

“The Lord Called His People Zion”

In less than one generation, the world God created was filled with wickedness. One exception was Enoch, a prophet who taught his people how to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. As Enoch talked with God, he was amazed to see that the Divine Creator would cry at the fall of His children: “How is it thou canst weep?” (Moses 7:31). God responded, “They are the workmanship of mine own hands” (Moses 7:32). He was sad because each child of God is precious to Him. He grieves for each one of us when our choices take us away from Him.
