Begin this Come Follow Me lesson by completing the prayer puzzle. Read the scripture on the puzzle together and discuss what it means.
Read together 3 Nephi 12. While you read the younger kids could color the Blessed coloring page and the older kids can complete the Beatitudes Foldable.
Before the lesson make the Beatitudes File Folder Game. Use this to review what you’ve just learned. Discuss what each attribute means.
Read 3 Nephi 12:6 and invite the children to think of a time when they were hungry. Explain that our spirits get hungry just like our bodies and we need to feed our spirit. Use the Nourish Me Cut and Paste Activity to help teach this concept.

Learn about the wise man and the foolish man as another bonus activity. Read 3 Nephi 14:21-27. Use the Wise and Foolish scene to help lead a discussion.

Parenting is not easy. The experiences of Adam and Eve show that being a parent has never been without trials and heartache. Yet through raising their family, they learned true happiness comes as we try to follow Jesus Christ. Eve said without the pain that had happened in her life, she “never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth” (Moses 5:11).
At the start of each new year, parents plan out activities and events for their family to do during the next 12 months. We hope to make happy memories, build our children’s character, and provide a refuge of emotional and spiritual support during hard times that will inevitably come. We want the best for our family and hope that at the end of the year, we will reflect on how good a year it was.
God knew the purpose of His creation before He began His work. As He told Moses, “This is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man (Moses 1:39). That purpose is the “why” for everything God does, including why He loves each of us.
