Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 27 | June 30-July 6 | Doctrine and Covenants 71-75

Each day, we face trials and setbacks in our lives. From bad weather and traffic to messy homes and sick kids, difficulties seem like they won’t stop coming. We must choose to carry on and plead with our Heavenly Father for help and to see the good in our lives. He will always answer those prayers and allow us to see our progress in the path that leads back into His presence.

Just as with our own lives, the work of the Lord will carry on no matter what forces are set out to oppose it. Because of who we are, as people who rely on God to do His will, it can’t be stopped. Every day, we can fulfil the words given from Jesus Christ to Joseph Smith: “There is no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper” (Doctrine and Covenants 71:9).

This Come Follow Me FHE lesson includes all you need to make everyday scripture study memorable for your kids! Teach your children to love the gospel with our engaging family activities. Start your free trial today!

Explain to your child that Heavenly Father calls a worthy priesthood holder to be the bishop. Explain that a bishop is called to help serve the people in your ward. Those are the people you see at church each week. Read D&C 72:2 and have your child clap when they hear the word “bishop.” Ask what your child knows about the bishop of your ward. Tell your child some details about your bishop, like where he lives or his good qualities. Next, explain some of the roles of the bishop, including how he collects tithing, helps the poor and needy, conducts sacrament meetings and many other important things to help people in the ward come closer to Christ. With your child, play the Pin the Tie on the Bishop Game. Decorate the bishop’s tie with crayons or markers. After playing the game, help your child write a thank you note using one of the ties from the game. Find a time for your child to deliver the thank you note to the bishop. “God Meant It unto Good”

Joseph’s forgiveness of his brothers did not come after they had paid restitution or offered an apology. He forgave them the moment he realized they had changed from their jealous ways when they offered themselves in place of Benjamin for punishment. How overwhelming it must have been for Joseph to see such love amongst his brothers. His forgiveness came with no strings attached: “be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves” (Genesis 45:5).

“The Lord Was with Joseph”

In every moment of Joseph’s story, God was with him. From his brothers’ betrayal and serving Potiphar, to a friend of Pharaoh and the savior of his family, at no time was Joseph forgotten by God. “Let God Prevail”

Abraham’s posterity was promised many blessings of eternal significance, but that didn’t mean everything would be perfect.
