Be Strong and of a Good Courage

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 22 | May 23 - May 29

We have multiple lessons for a variety of ages in our digital subscription to help you find what works best for your family. Our goal is to help families come closer to Christ and we’ve worked really hard on providing more options to help families implement Come Follow Me in their home.

Toddler Come Follow Me Activity

The toddler lessons this week includes 3 fun activities about “be[ing] strong and of a good courage.”

  1. Use the scripture Joshua 24:15 and the coloring page to teach your family that we can covenant to serve God in our homes and with our families.
  2. Tell the story about how the Israelites conquered the city of Jericho. When we listen to Heavenly Father’s instructions we will be successful. March around the “walls of Jericho” blowing the horn to make the walls come down.
  3. Give your child a small picture of Jesus to put in their pocket or attach it to a string and make a necklace. Let your child show several people that they have Jesus with them “whithersoever” they go.

Elementary Come Follow Me Activities

Summary of this week’s Hands-on Learning Activity:

Learn more about the battle of Jericho by making the mini book and reading it together as a family. You can also play the game Jenga and pretend the city is falling when your tower comes crashing down.

Summary of this week’s Scripture Study Activity:

Watch a video about Joshua becoming the new leader of the Israelites. The Lord encouraged Joshua and will encourage us when we are trying things that are new and scary. Give your family the affirmation stickers to wear.

These are just two of the six fun, creative, and engaging activities for this week’s Come Follow Me FHE lesson. See your lesson plan page and materials for more activities and QR codes to videos and songs that go along with what we are learning about this week!

“After Much Tribulation … Cometh the Blessing”

Zion’s Camp was less of an army marching to liberate Missouri and more of a multi-week training in how to be a true saint. Those who showed they trusted in the Lord by following the Prophet Joseph received a massive boost to their faith, giving them strength for the road ahead: “That they themselves may be prepared, and that my people may be taught more perfectly, and have experience” (Doctrine and Covenants 105:10).

“Be Still and Know That I Am God”

Doctrine and Covenants 97 was given to the saints as both a blessing of comfort and instruction. With persecution growing around them, the saints needed to know the will of the Lord to guide them. Jesus Christ spoke peace to the saints through the Prophet Joseph, encouraging them to wait “patiently on the Lord” and to do what He would do, even if it meant further persecution (D&C 97:2).

“For the Salvation of Zion”

It’s easy to think that, as parents, we’re not doing enough to give our children a good life. The world is always persuading us to look at what others are doing and tells us our kids are missing out on extravagant trips, the latest entertainment systems, and privileged extracurricular activities. Yet these experiences will fall short of the positive impact that regular family prayer, daily scripture study, and keeping covenants can have on our children.
