Moses grew from a helpless Hebrew infant to Egyptian royalty. Yet that wasn’t where God needed him. As a refugee, Moses was called to be the most significant prophet of the Old Testament. Through Moses, the Lord redeemed His people, established His covenant, and reminded the world that God will not forget those who follow Him.
When we look to God for help with our trials or opportunities to serve others, we don’t need to have wealth or status. God calls us as we are. He has always loved us and will never forget us.

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!
Scripture Study
Read specific scriptures from Exodus chapters 1-5 to get a simplified story of Moses. As you read, use The Story of Moses instruction page to help your family act out the scriptures so it’s more engaging and fun for everyone. Have members of your family dress up as Moses, Aaron, and Pharaoh, and use some props as well. After you finish the story, explain how Heavenly Father teaches us about Jesus Christ in Moses’ story.
Hands-On Activity
Read Exodus 1:15-22 and 2:2-10. Then, discuss the courageous women who saved Moses and the midwives who saved many Hebrew boys from being killed. The women were very courageous because they could have been killed for disobeying the Pharaoh’s orders. Talk about how your family can have courage as you make a Cup of Courage. Coloring Page
Complete the Moses coloring page together. Read Exodus 2:1-10 and discuss how Moses was born to Levite parents and raised by Pharaoh’s daughter. Talk about how God had a plan for Moses even from his birth.

Family Activity
Play hide-and-seek with your child. As they search for you, call out their name. Afterward, repeat the game with other family members. Point out that when your child heard their name, they knew where to find you. Explain that just as we know when someone calls our name, Heavenly Father knows our names too because He loves each of us. When Jesus spoke to Moses, He called Moses by name—He said, “Moses, Moses.” Share the story of Moses and the burning bush from Exodus 3:1-6 to help illustrate this point. Write your child’s name on a large piece of butcher paper. Draw the letters of their name to look like a road. Let your child play with small toy cars, driving them along the letters of their name. Share your testimony that Heavenly Father knows each of us by name. When we listen for His voice and follow Him, He will guide us on the right path.

Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, but he found that once they were in the wilderness, it wasn’t so easy to take Egypt out of the Israelites. Even with the many miracles and signs the people had witnessed, they still wanted to return to a life of slavery with every hardship they encountered. If the Israelites were to be the Lord’s chosen people, this could not be.
How did Moses prepare the Israelites to make covenants with the Lord? We read in Exodus 25 that God gave commandments to His people to help them be ready for greater covenant blessings when He would “dwell among them” (Exodus 25:8). Even though the Israelites struggled to keep these commandments, they were eventually blessed as they remained true to the Lord. We will also receive all promised blessings as we live our lives in faithfulness.
Following the 10 Plagues and the crossing of the Red Sea, you would think that the Israelites were in a powerful place spiritually. They had seen incredible miracles and had sure witnesses that the Lord was with them. Yet, upon facing a shortage of food and water, the people were willing to abandon everything God had done for them and return to slavery: “Would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt… when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness” (Exodus 16:3).
