Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 11 | March 6 - March 12

We have multiple lessons for a variety of ages in our digital subscription to help you find what works best for your family. Our goal is to help families come closer to Christ and we’ve worked really hard on providing more options to help families implement Come Follow Me in their home.

  1. Go on a walk and hold your child’s hand. Talk about how to stay safe like looking both ways before crossing the street. When you get home read Luke 9:23-25. Sing the song “I’ll Walk With You” from the Children’s songbook and color the coloring page.
  2. Teach that Jesus has the power to heal. Summarize the miracles that happen in Matthew 9:18-30 and Mark 5:22-43. Watch the video of Christ raising Jairus’ daughter from the dead. Do the miracle puzzles to create a visual to help you learn and review these miracles
  3. Read Matthew 10:1-10. Then play “Follow the Leader” with a twist. Play the song “Follow the Prophet” from the children’s songbook. Let one child be the prophet and do an action around the house (like jump, skip, hop, etc) and everyone else follows the prophet’s action. Let everyone have a turn being the prophet.

Summary of this week’s Go & Do Family Activity:

Read Matthew 10:1-10. Talk about how Jesus called apostles and we have apostles on the earth today. Do the apostle match activity to learn or review the apostle’s names. Then have an apostle hunt. Hide the pictures of the apostles around your house and as the kids find a picture tell them something about that apostle.

Summary of this week’s Surprise Activity:

After reading Luke 9:23-25 and Romans 1:16 help your children fill out the I choose to follow Jesus footprint. Help them think of ways they can follow Jesus in different situations.

“God Meant It unto Good”

Joseph’s forgiveness of his brothers did not come after they had paid restitution or offered an apology. He forgave them the moment he realized they had changed from their jealous ways when they offered themselves in place of Benjamin for punishment. How overwhelming it must have been for Joseph to see such love amongst his brothers. His forgiveness came with no strings attached: “be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves” (Genesis 45:5).

“The Lord Was with Joseph”

In every moment of Joseph’s story, God was with him. From his brothers’ betrayal and serving Potiphar, to a friend of Pharaoh and the savior of his family, at no time was Joseph forgotten by God. Through the good and the bad, he trusted that God knew who he was and had faith that everything would be all right.

“Let God Prevail”

Abraham’s posterity was promised many blessings of eternal significance, but that didn’t mean everything would be perfect. His grandsons, Jacob and Esau, fought over who should inherit their father’s birthright. Relatives lied to and tricked each other. The prophet’s very own family was dysfunctional, yet that didn’t stop those who were righteous from striving to follow Jesus Christ.
