God Meant It unto Good

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 12 | March 14 - March 20

We have multiple Come Follow Me subscriptions and multiple activities in each subscription to help you find what works best for your family. Our goal is to help families come closer to Christ and we’ve worked really hard on providing more options to help achieve our goal.

Toddler Come Follow Me Activity

Tell the story of Joseph providing food and land for his family. Explain that Joseph loved his family and felt happy when he helped them. Read Genesis 45:11, 18-21. Teach that when we show love to our family members we feel happy like Joseph did. Sing “A Happy Family” (Children’s Songbook pg 198a). Play the Love One Another Bean Bag toss game. When your beanbag lands on a picture of a family member, share one way you can show love to them. End with your testimony that Heavenly Father sent us to live in families because He loves us.

Elementary Come Follow Me Activities

CREATE IT ACTIVITY:

Read Genesis 42:1-3 and 45:5-11. Then, as a family, compare Joseph to Jesus Christ by discussing how Joseph saved his brothers and how Christ has saved us. Then make the Jesus Christ Foldable.

SURPRISE ACTIVITY:

As a family learn about different ways the priesthood blesses your lives by playing the priesthood matching game. For the matching game, print the page twice. We recommend printing on cardstock then cutting out the cards and laminating them for durability.

These are just two of the six fun, creative, and engaging activities for this week’s lesson. See your lesson plan page and materials for more activities and QR codes to videos that go along with what we are learning about this week!

“We Believe”

Though we have reached the end of the Doctrine and Covenants, the work of the Restoration is still ongoing: “We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God” (Articles of Faith 1:9). Prophets still reveal the will of God. The Church is still growing to fill the Earth.

“The Vision of the Redemption of the Dead”

“What happens after we die?” This is a question commonly asked by all of God’s children. Because of continuing revelation through living prophets, we know! Doctrine and Covenants Sections 137 and 138 reveal that our loved ones who have died go to a place of rest if they were faithful in their testimony of Christ, where they are then prepared to teach the gospel in the spirit world. Those who died who were not faithful are given the opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ and accept ordinances performed by the living: “and thus was the gospel preached to the dead” (D&C 138:30).

He “Has Sealed His Mission and His Works with His Own Blood”

Doctrine and Covenants Section 135 could be viewed as the conclusion of the entire Doctrine and Covenants scriptures, were it not for additional revelation given to the saints. This section witnesses the divinity of the Prophet Joseph’s calling. It declares Joseph’s work to be of God and that it will never fail. It also testifies that those who read the Doctrine and Covenants, as well as the Book of Mormon, “will be reminded that the Book of Mormon, and this book of Doctrine and Covenants of the church, cost the best blood of the nineteenth century to bring them forth” (D&C 135:6).
