Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 8 | February 19-25 | 2 Nephi 6-10

Learn from the prophet Jacob, the brother of Nephi, as we read his sacred teachings in 2 Nephi 6-10. In this week’s Come Follow Me lesson, we uncover “things which are, and which are to come” (2 Nephi 6:4) about God’s covenant. Jacob takes us through his own teachings and those of Isaiah, helping us learn of Christ from a new perspective.

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

The elementary bundle is a treasure trove for kids aged 4-11, featuring activities that instill key principles. Let’s explore three highlights:

Covenant Creators: Crafting God’s Secret Handshake

Go & Do

In 2 Nephi 6:16-18, Nephi talks about those who are God’s covenant people – those who “wait for him.” Discuss making covenants and how you can participate in the gathering of Israel as part of God’s covenant people. Covenants are like God’s secret handshake with us. Make up a secret handshake together.

Mercy Flipbook: A Journey to Jesus

Surprise Activity

Discuss the goodness and mercy of God in preparing a way for us to repent and return to Him through Jesus Chris, after reading 2 Nephi 9:9-11. Make the “Jesus Saves Me” flipbook from this week’s lesson and have fun watching the boy walk to Jesus in the book.

Delightful Choices: Embracing Righteousness

Hands-On Activity

Gather your family to read 2 Nephi 9:49 and do an object lesson to show how you can “Delight in Righteousness and Abhorreth Sin” (see lesson for details). Then use the two worksheets provided to help your children think of ways they can delight in righteousness and challenge them to work on one thing this week.

“I Have Seen Your Sacrifices in Obedience”

Even during the early years in Nauvoo, there were times when the Prophet Joseph still had to flee for his life from those who sought to stop the work. Yet even in hiding, he continued to keep his focus on the restoration of the gospel, specifically with baptisms for the dead. “That subject seems to occupy my mind, and press itself upon my feelings the strongest, since I have been pursued by my enemies” (Doctrine and Covenants 128:1). “A House Unto My Name”

Building the city of Nauvoo was not the first time the Saints had to begin again, but it was the first time they could start new from the ground up. As the saints gathered from Missouri to build this new city, many were sick and still reeling from the harsh persecution they had suffered. The Prophet Joseph administered to the saints, healing them both physically and spiritually. Through His Prophet, the Lord promised the saints that, “If ye labor with all your might, I will consecrate that spot that it shall be made holy” (Doctrine and Covenants 124:44)
