A Light … That Can Never Be Darkened

In a land where the wicked ruled, one man heard God’s call to choose the right. Abinadai preached to King Noah and his priests, teaching them essential truths about Jesus Christ and His divine role as the Savior of the world. We can follow Abinadai’s example by sharing their testimonies and teaching that “redemption cometh through Christ the Lord” (Mosiah 16:15).

In the Strength of the Lord

One of those who heard King Benjamin’s speech was a man named Ammon, who found the people of Limhi deep inside the lands of the Lamanites. Because he listened to the prophet’s voice, he was able to share the gospel with an entire kingdom of lost Nephites! Just like Ammon, we can also treasure up the words of God’s prophets and bring light to those who need to know God loves them.

This Is the Way

In these last chapters of 2 Nephi, we read the final testimony of a prophet of God. Nephi shares a lasting witness of Jesus Christ and offers a goodbye to both the people of his day and to us in modern times, saying that he will meet us again at the Second Coming of the Savior. We can heed the words of Nephi by teaching our children to “hearken unto these words and believe in Christ” (2 Nephi 33:10).

A Marvelous Work and a Wonder

Like his father Lehi, the prophet Nephi was gifted with extraordinary visions of God’s children. He was shown many things to help give him purpose as the leader of his people and to know what to write in record. He even saw the last days which we live in now, emphasizing that above all, “except ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall all likewise perish” (2 Nephi 30:1). This week’s lesson will help your family come to see a little of what Nephi saw and understand our own purpose for living at a time near Christ’s Second Coming.
