Every day, we have the opportunity to learn something new. We learn best when we are able to review it several times so it sticks with us. The gospel of Jesus Christ is taught in the same way: we learn new things through revelation, and we remember them by living the principles of the gospel every day of our entire lives.

The wicked Zoramites had abandoned the inspired word of God for their own interpretation, neglecting the principles of faith and repentance. The people taught by Ammon and his brethren were blessed by change and had their hearts filled with joy as their faith in Christ grew. Does it ever seem like you can’t get your kids to be nice to each other? Does doing the same thing over and over not make any difference? Alma found that as prophet, doing the same thing over and over wasn’t helping the people of Zarahemla repent. However, Alma realized that what his people needed wasn’t more lecturing. They needed a “mighty change” of heart (Alma 5: 14) as he did when he was a rebellious youth.
