In a world that revolves around money, it can be stressful to know how we can support our families and make the most of the resources we obtain. We should feel grateful to know that in the Lord’s Church, Jesus Christ provides direction on how temporal resources can be used to further His work. He instructs the saints in Doctrine and Covenants 51 to collect money, food, and clothing to help provide for each other. We also read of the commandment to build a bishop’s storehouse.

Some of us fall on hard times and require help to provide our families with food, clothing, and shelter. In following with this instruction given in 1831, today’s Presiding Bishopric continues to gather “meat in mine house” (Malachi 3:10) to bless those in our communities who might be in need. Through selfless service and paying our tithing, we can help bless God’s children with food, clothing, and other necessities across the world.

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Break the Code!

Scripture Study

Members of the church are blessed for the countless hours of service they provide. At times, it may be challenging, but we learn through scriptures that keeping our covenants and the commandments bless us. Read D&C 54:6 and Break the Code as a family. Discuss the keywords and challenge your family to memorize the scripture this week, then share at the next lesson.

Keeping Covenants

Hands-On Activity

We make covenants with the Lord as members of His church. In D&C 54, a man named Leman breaks his covenants and suffers the consequences. We will have similar events happen in our life if we do not keep our covenants. Play the Train Board Game to emphasize the importance of keeping covenants with the Lord and how we are blessed when we do so.

Follow the Prophet

Surprise Activity

God calls Godly men and women as leaders of our church. Study the attributes of leaders in D&C 52:14-19, and see if the attributes match those of our prophet and those who speak to us at General Conference. Use the Follow the Prophet cards as you sing “Follow the Prophet” (Children’s Songbook, pg. 110) and see if the prophets have the attributes listed in D&C.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

Keep the Train on the Track

Go & Do Activity

As you cut out the Obeying the Commandments Keeps Me on Track train and the tracks for this activity, explain that all trains need a track. The track helps the train stay on course and get where it needs to go. The track also helps the train avoid danger. Just like the train, we also can stay safe from danger by staying “on track.” When we obey the commandments and keep our covenants, we stay “on track.” Read D&C 54:6. Explain that covenants are promises we make with Heavenly Father. When we keep our promises and obey God’s commandments, we will stay on track, avoid danger and return to live with God in Heaven. Assemble the train on the tracks. Sing “The Train on the Track” song with your child (see lesson for lyrics).

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“If the Lord Be God, Follow Him”

By the time the Israelites had their third king, the nation split into two groups: the 10 tribes in the north, forming the Kingdom of Israel, and the remaining two tribes in the south, forming the Kingdom of Judah. The Lord called a mighty prophet, Elijah, to remind His people of their true King: Jehovah (Jesus Christ). Elijah testified to the people that their idol worship was taking them farther away from God.

“Hear Thou in Heaven Their Prayer”

Going from tabernacle to temple was a big deal for the Israelites. So big, in fact, that even those building the temple had to be worthy of the task. David’s sin in his lust for Bathsheba disqualified him to build the Lord’s house, resulting in his son Solomon completing it. For building the temple with a pure heart, the Lord promised Solomon that so long as he kept the commandments, “I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people” (1 Kings 6:13).

“The Battle Is the Lord’s”

The story of David versus Goliath teaches many important principles, with one being that if we try our best and have real faith in God, He will help us make the most of our efforts. Though an army was present and he was offered the king’s armor, David brought his sling and his belief that the Lord would prevail through him. It was enough: “the Lord saveth not with sword and spear” (1 Samuel 17:47) but with trust and hope.
