Ye Are The Body of Christ

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 36 | August 26 - September 1

To finish off this summer month we have provided you with lots of hands on materials. This encourages children to keep those hands busy so that their minds can be on. In all my years of teaching I have found this to be a very effective teaching strategy. The bible study is 1 Corinthians 8-13 and there is so much to talk about in this reading! Be sure to study ahead of time so you can really know how to best teach your family.

I suggest printing the number one puzzles on colored card stock and laminating them then using velcro dots. The sacrament trays are also meant to be interactive, children can put the cups and bread on and off the trays. In order for them to do this you need to laminate them and then use velcro dots again. You may color them before laminating if you’d like. These are excellent for sacrament meeting!

Here are some real life photos of all the digital downloads you get in the lesson bundle this week, week 34. We know you will enjoy them!

“The Family Is Central to the Creator’s Plan”

Every family comes with their own set of trials and blessings. Parents and children alike have both memorable times together, as well as times in which forgiveness is needed to move forward in love and harmony. As the Proclamation teaches, Jesus Christ is the key to strengthening bonds and repairing relationships that break: “Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Ultimately, all we do as a family in righteousness prepares us to live with God, exalted, as a family in heaven.

“We Believe”

Though we have reached the end of the Doctrine and Covenants, the work of the Restoration is still ongoing: “We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God” (Articles of Faith 1:9). Prophets still reveal the will of God. The Church is still growing to fill the Earth.

“The Vision of the Redemption of the Dead”

“What happens after we die?” This is a question commonly asked by all of God’s children. Because of continuing revelation through living prophets, we know! Doctrine and Covenants Sections 137 and 138 reveal that our loved ones who have died go to a place of rest if they were faithful in their testimony of Christ, where they are then prepared to teach the gospel in the spirit world. Those who died who were not faithful are given the opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ and accept ordinances performed by the living: “and thus was the gospel preached to the dead” (D&C 138:30).
