Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 13 | March 24–30 | Doctrine and Covenants 27–28

No family is perfect. Not every situation includes two loving parents and children who always are ready to obey. Realistically, our families might look like something far from that image. However, through the teachings of modern prophets, we know the Lord wouldn’t have it any other way. Through our dedication to His restored gospel, every family, no matter the shape or size, can have eternal blessings.

These blessings don’t come on their own. As the Lord told His early saints, “all things must be done in order” (D&C 28:13). So it is with our families. If we stay close to our Father in Heaven by relying on His Son and keeping His commandments, we with our children, will find peace both in this life and afterwards.

Come Follow Me FHE lessons include everything you need to have an empowering scripture study Empower your children to love the gospel with our scripture-focused lesson activities. Start your free trial now!

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

The lesson for this week is simplified but intentional to focus your thoughts and efforts on the Savior and His birth. We hope you take the time to use the activities provided to incorporate the light of Christ into your lives and into this special season

Sword and Shield

Scripture Study

Read D&C 27: 15-18 as a family. Then create your own “sword of the spirit” and “shield of faith” by using the drawing guides from the lesson to design and draw your own. You may want to draw the sword and shield for younger children and then let them color the picture.

Follow the Prophet

Go & Do Activity

Choose one family member to be the “prophet” that everyone will follow. Dress them up to look like our current prophet. Then play “Simon Says” as a family, but instead say, “The Prophet Says…” Play as many times as you want. After you finish, read D&C 28:2 and talk about a time when you were blessed by following the prophet.

Sacrament Book

Hands-On Activity

Read D&C 27:1-2. Discuss the importance of the sacrament. Explain that we need to focus on the Savior during the sacrament. Then, create the Sacrament Book from the lesson. Cut out the pages, then staple them in order. Children can use this to help them remember the Savior during the sacrament.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

Put on the Armor

Scripture Study

Heavenly Father loves us so much. Because He loves us, He wants us to be safe and make good choices. In the scriptures, we learn to put on the whole armor of God. Read D&C 27:15 and share how armor keeps us safe. When we put on the armor of God, we do things that will help us make good choices. Making good choices keeps our spirit safe, and when our spirit is safe, we can have the Holy Ghost with us. The scriptures teach us that when we put on the armor of God, we can be happy! Play the Put on the Armor of God game together. When finished, bear testimony of the power of putting on the whole armor of God.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“The Matchless Gift of God’s Divine Son”

The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ renewed the truth that Christ was born to save all mankind. Through His mortal ministry, His suffering in Gethsemane and on the cross, His ministry in the Spirit World, and His resurrection, He offers healing to all our sorrows and pains. What greater gift could we be given than that?

“The Family Is Central to the Creator’s Plan”

Every family comes with their own set of trials and blessings. Parents and children alike have both memorable times together, as well as times in which forgiveness is needed to move forward in love and harmony. As the Proclamation teaches, Jesus Christ is the key to strengthening bonds and repairing relationships that break: “Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Ultimately, all we do as a family in righteousness prepares us to live with God, exalted, as a family in heaven.

“We Believe”

Though we have reached the end of the Doctrine and Covenants, the work of the Restoration is still ongoing: “We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God” (Articles of Faith 1:9). Prophets still reveal the will of God. The Church is still growing to fill the Earth.
