Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 23 | June 2-8 | Doctrine and Covenants 58-59

We all want to arrive at our own “promised land” or “Zion” sooner rather than later. However, we cannot forget that the process of getting there is just as important as the destination itself. As we follow Jesus Christ and keep His commandments, we are changed to become more like the Savior. The trials that accompany this period of growth are essential the eternal reward of being with our families forever, for “after much tribulation come the blessings (DC 58:4).”

Come Follow Me FHE lessons include everything you need to make daily scripture study fun for your kids! Teach your children to love the gospel with our engaging family activities. Start your free trial today!

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Loving the Lord

Scripture Study

Read D&C 59:5. Discuss what it means to “love the Lord with all thy heart.” Then, talk about ways you can show your love to God. Finish by letting children complete the Love One Another Puzzle.

Gratitude ABCs

Hands-On Activity

Read D&C 59:7. Think of people you are grateful for. Create thank you cards to take or mail to these people. You could make them for family members, neighbors, teachers, or friends. After, make a list of things you are grateful for. Using the My Gratitude ABCs, try to think of something you are grateful for that starts with each letter of the alphabet.

Sundaes for Sunday

Surprise Activity

The Sabbath Day is a Joy! Read D&C 59:9-10, 14-15. Talk about some things you do as a family to prepare for the Lord’s “Holy Day.” Do the Ice Cream Sundae for Sunday activity to help your family prepare for Sunday and enjoy real ice cream sundaes after!

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

Family Obstacle Course

Go & Do Activity

Before beginning, set up an obstacle course that would be easy for your toddler to complete. If you don’t want to make a mess, you could go outside and draw an obstacle course with chalk! At random points during the course, place stop signs. Start the lesson by singing “Choose the Right Way” (Children’s Songbook, p. 160). Next, explain to your child that Heavenly Father has given us our agency, which means He has allowed us to make choices. Read D&C 58:27-29 and explain that we need to use our agency to make good choices. Heavenly Father promises that if we make good choices, we will be blessed! Complete the obstacle course and have your child collect their reward!

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

Where “Much Is Given Much Is Required”

The Savior Jesus Christ requires much of His people. As shown throughout scripture, Christ doesn’t ask only a tiny bit of our time. He wants our entire heart to be in His work. From our efforts, the Lord brings about great blessings for our brothers and sisters. For example, doing family history and temple work blesses families that lived before us. Sharing the gospel now can bless generations to come. Even our own families are the result of blessings promised to those who committed to the work.

“I Will Lead You Along”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God’s kingdom on the earth, but it didn’t just appear out of nowhere. As the Church grew from a few members to millions, God gave wisdom to men and women “for a permanent and everlasting establishment and order unto my church… to the salvation of man, and to the glory of your Father who is in heaven” (Doctrine and Covenants 78:4). Just as with the early saints, we are led along by His hand in bringing the gospel to the world. We can always trust in Him to guide us in all things.
