Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 21 | May 19-25 | Doctrine and Covenants 49-50

During times of trial and difficulty, we might want to know why we’re going through them and how we can have happy times again. We might not know all the answers right now, but we are promised that one day, we will. In Doctrine and Covenants 50:24, we read that as we “continueth in God,” the light and knowledge we receive from Him will grow “brighter and brighter until the perfect day.”

We can find assurance that He cares about us through the many ways we can invite His light into our lives: prayer, scripture study, making and keeping covenants, service, and so on. When we hear His voice, either directly through the Holy Ghost or through living prophets, we should feel joy for being “accounted of God worthy to receive” (DC 50:34).

Come Follow Me FHE lessons include everything you need to make family scripture study fun for your kids! Empower your children to love the gospel with our engaging activities. Start your free trial now!

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Footsteps to Christ

Hands-On Activity

Create a path of footprints leading to a picture of Christ. To create the footprints, trace your children’s feet with chalk, go to a park and have them step in the sand, or use the Footsteps to Christ printable. Read D&C 49:12-14. Each time your children make a footprint, have them tell you one way they can follow in Christ’s footsteps.

Living the Full Gospel

Surprise Activity

As a family, read D&C 49:2 and talk about how we have the fullness of the gospel. Then do the “In Part, But Not All” activity using ingredients to one of your favorite family treats to help your children learn this concept. Share your testimony of the fullness of the gospel and how it has blessed your family.

The Good Shepherd

Coloring Page

Read D&C 50:40-46 and explain how the “Good Shepherd” (Jesus) is watching over and preparing us for His second coming. Then, let your children color the “Good Shepherd” coloring page.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

Rainbows After Rain

Hands-On Activity

Help your child draw a rainbow with crayons on a sheet of paper. Teach that rainbows appear in the sky after it has rained. Rainbows help us remember the blessings that Heavenly Father gives us after the rain has cleaned the earth. Read D&C 49:12-14 and explain that baptism provides the way for us to become clean. With your child, sing the song “When I Am Baptized” (Children’s Songbook, p. 103) and watch the video (click or scan the QR code). Share your testimony about your baptism day. You could even show your child baptism pictures if you have them! Complete the When I’m Baptized mini book with your child and explain that they can choose to be baptized, too!

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

Where “Much Is Given Much Is Required”

The Savior Jesus Christ requires much of His people. As shown throughout scripture, Christ doesn’t ask only a tiny bit of our time. He wants our entire heart to be in His work. From our efforts, the Lord brings about great blessings for our brothers and sisters. For example, doing family history and temple work blesses families that lived before us. Sharing the gospel now can bless generations to come. Even our own families are the result of blessings promised to those who committed to the work.

“I Will Lead You Along”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God’s kingdom on the earth, but it didn’t just appear out of nowhere. As the Church grew from a few members to millions, God gave wisdom to men and women “for a permanent and everlasting establishment and order unto my church… to the salvation of man, and to the glory of your Father who is in heaven” (Doctrine and Covenants 78:4). Just as with the early saints, we are led along by His hand in bringing the gospel to the world. We can always trust in Him to guide us in all things.
