Week 30 | July 17 - July 23 | Acts 10-15

A new week and a new lesson has arrived! As a fun review and focus on our Savior we created this Spot It remake for your family to enjoy! It was a big hit at our house. My kids are still be playing it an entire week after the lesson was taught. Talk about a mom win!

The crucifixion is such a tender and special story. There are so many videos that will help you teach this in an age appropriate way to your children. If you would like you could use some of the items we created for Easter Week. Those with a membership will find them in your downloads. This will give you more activities and resources to enhance learning in your home this week.

The coloring page for this lesson touches my heart. I really mean that! I can’t look at it and read the phrase without tears welling up in my eyes. This message is so important to share with our children but the story is so sad to tell. What a gift our Lord and Savior gave to us. I always find it uplifting that through it all Christ stayed calm, humble and He forgave those who persecuted Him.

In our home we hang the coloring page up all week so that we can remember what we are learning about. It is a wonderful way to add words from the bible to our everyday lives. The New Testament has really become a big part of our lives this year because of our diligent study. Displaying the materials in our home that our children have completed is just the icing on the top. Even our two year old colors and points to her picture on the wall often.

Following your summary sheet that is provided in your materials you will know exactly what to use each item for. We do encourage you to use and choose best for your families needs. We recreated the super fun Spot It game (bible style) for you to play together this week. People, it is awesome! Each image was hand drawn by one of our artists. Each image is a review from a story in the new testament. Many images are of our Savior. The whole thing is just heart warming and educational all in one. If you have more than three players I do recommend printing the game cards twice. See the instructions in your materials. Have so much fun with this game!

Simple definition strips have been given to you in your downloads. These are to be used as a teaching tool. Great for children who are reading to choose one, read a loud, tape up on the board and then to discuss each one together. These three words are challenging to understand, especially for young children. We hope these help!

To apply the principles taught this week we give you some real life scenarios to act out or simply discuss. Feel free to make up even more examples, maybe ones that fit your family. I suggest making it a game, that always works out to be the most memorable!

There are other materials you get in your lesson materials this week that are not pictured. Love is another focus this week. Take a look at your song list. Music is a great way to teach this attribute.

This is a great way to help improve reverence and keep thoughts on the Savior during church with your little kids. This is a separate downloadable file for members. “A Voice of Gladness for the Living and the Dead”

Even during the early years in Nauvoo, there were times when the Prophet Joseph still had to flee for his life from those who sought to stop the work. Yet even in hiding, he continued to keep his focus on the restoration of the gospel, specifically with baptisms for the dead. “That subject seems to occupy my mind, and press itself upon my feelings the strongest, since I have been pursued by my enemies” (Doctrine and Covenants 128:1). No matter what trials he faced, Joseph never forgot his calling to restore Christ’s Church.

“A House Unto My Name”

Building the city of Nauvoo was not the first time the Saints had to begin again, but it was the first time they could start new from the ground up. As the saints gathered from Missouri to build this new city, many were sick and still reeling from the harsh persecution they had suffered. The Prophet Joseph administered to the saints, healing them both physically and spiritually. Through His Prophet, the Lord promised the saints that, “If ye labor with all your might, I will consecrate that spot that it shall be made holy” (Doctrine and Covenants 124:44)

“O God, Where Are Thou?”

The recent passing of President Russell M. Nelson brings to memory his last conference talk, where he quoted verses from this week’s section: Doctrine and Covenants 121. President Nelson referenced D&C 121:45, where the Lord shares that having confidence “in the presence of God” comes from having charity and virtue. Additionally, we’re told that if we have charity and virtue, we will have a greater understanding of “the doctrine of the priesthood.”
