Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 50 | December 9-15 | Moroni 7-9

Have you ever received a letter from a loved one filled with cherished advice? Those are the kind of messages we don’t throw away. Instead, we treasure them forever. In this week’s chapters, Moroni shares a few of the letters written by his father Mormon. These letters detail sacred teachings that have helped restore many lost doctrines in our day. They also include a personal witness from father to son of the importance of having charity, “the pure love of Christ” (Moroni 7:47).

Grow closer to Christ as a family through this week’s Come Follow Me FHE lesson. Each one teaches gospel principles from the scriptures and includes everything you need to make Come, Follow Me fun for your kids! Join our membership for only $10 a month, and you’ll gain access to a treasure trove of resources to strengthen your family’s spiritual foundation and growth.

This week, we’ll be sharing the gospel with your little ones using the activity book in the Elementary Bundle. Be sure to use the activity book for younger children (Level 1, Recommended for ages 3-6). Print your activity book pages, then cut all of them in half, except the cover. You will fold the cover in half to help keep the pages together. Put all your pages in order inside the cover and then staple along the left-hand edge. Make one book for each of your children.

I Can Have Charity

Go & Do Activity

Mormon has a special message in Moroni 7:46-47. Read the verses to your child and ask them to listen for the word “charity.” To help them remember, tell them the word sounds like cherry. Say, “The scriptures teach us to have charity.” Charity is the pure love of Christ. It means we need to love and serve others just as Jesus did. Ask, “Can you think of things we can do to show love to others?” Discuss scenarios and situations that might be relatable to them. Describe how, especially during Christmas time, we are encouraged to help others feel the love of the Savior. Tell your child they get to help you make a special treat to show their love for someone. Let your child pick the person they want to make Cherr-ity Christmas Bars for. See the recipe to bake the yummy dessert bars together, allowing your child to help as much as they desire. As the dessert bakes, you might let them draw a homemade card to go along with the treat. You could also color this week’s coloring page or watch the related videos from the media page. Once your delicious treat is finished, deliver the treat to who your child felt needs some love.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“I Will Order All Things for Your Good”

Have you ever had a powerful spiritual experience and felt the joy of God’s love, only to feel down again when normal life resumes? Or an hour where your children were seemingly perfect and kind to one another, but the rest of the day was awful? This might have been how the early saints felt by the end of the year following the dedication of the Kirtland Temple. Life itself didn’t get easier with the temple’s completion. Financial troubles and increased persecution made enduring to the end difficult for many saints. Yet those who persevered were blessed not only with strength but also with direction on how they could be a blessing to God’s children even amidst their own trials. The Lord’s comforting words to them are extended to us today as we also can help others feel loved during our own struggles: “Let thy heart be of good cheer before my face… for I, the Lord, have a great work for thee to do” (D&C 112:4,6).

“It Is Thy House, a Place of Thy Holiness”

March 27, 1836, was a special date both on earth and in heaven. For the first time since 70 AD, a temple of God was available for men and women to worship in. Many saints who were present for the dedication saw angels celebrating the return of temple blessings to the world. The Lord Jesus Christ shared His own joy of the temple’s completion in Doctrine and Covenants 110:6-7, when he said, “let the hearts of all my people rejoice, who have, with their might, built this house to my name. For behold, I have accepted this house…”.

“The Order of the Son of God”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is organized according to the Lord’s instructions, as detailed in this week’s reading in the Doctrine and Covenants. One of the ways we can apply the Lord’s guidance in these sections to our families is to establish councils within our homes. We should, with our children, “sit in council with them, and to teach them their duty, edifying one another” (D&C 107:85).
