Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 29 | July 5 - July 11

We have multiple Come Follow Me subscriptions and multiple activities in each subscription to help you find what works best for your family. Our goal is to help families come closer to Christ and we’ve worked really hard on providing more options to help achieve our goal.

Toddler Come Follow Me Activity

Sing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” with your child. Teach that Jesus made the sun, moon, stars, and earth. When we look at the sun, moon, and stars we can remember that Jesus made them for us. Create the sun, moon and stars mosaic by ripping little pieces of construction paper and gluing them on the pictures. End with singing “Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam” while holding up the picture of the sun.

Simplified Come Follow Me Activity

Let each person make the “I Can Bear Record Foldable Book.” As a family read through the book and discuss each page. Then pass around a bowl of gummy bears and let each person “How can we bear record?” Give each person some gummy bears with the treat tag to help remind them to bear witness throughout the week.

CREATE IT COME FOLLOW ME ACTIVITY:

Teach about the Plan of Salvation. Use the “Plan of Salvation Art” in your materials to help you teach. There are many ways to use it. Some examples include, cutting it apart and hold up each piece as you talk about it. Make multiple copies, cut them apart and have a race to see who can put it in the correct order first. Or use it as a board game and move pieces through each step talking about each one. Then use the “Degrees of Glory Sort” activity. Read each scripture and place it in the picture that represents that kingdom.

SURPRISE ACTIVITY:

Consider watching a clip from the movie “Newsies” of the boys trying to sell their papers. Read D&C 76:40-42. Teach that the gospel is “good news!” Take time to complete the writing on the “Good News Newspaper.” Ask each family member “What would you tell people about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?” Let each person share their good news.

“I Will Declare What He Hath Done for My Soul”

This week’s lesson from Psalms (Psalms 49–51; 61–66; 69–72; 77–78; 85–86) centers on God’s endless mercy, forgiveness, and role as our safe refuge. The psalmists openly share their struggles, fears, and mistakes, showing us that faith isn’t about being perfect—it’s about knowing who to turn to when we need help.

“The Lord Is My Shepherd”

In modern times, the Lord declared “the song of the heart is a prayer unto me” (Doctrine and Covenants 25:12). In ancient times, songs, or psalms, were used to praise the Lord and remember His covenants with His people. Many Psalms are attributed to King David, whose relationship with God is one of the most detailed in the entire Old Testament. It’s no wonder David is thought to be the author of so many songs that praise the Lord for His strength, His mercy, His patience with His children, and His eternal love for all mankind.

“Yet Will I Trust in Him”

Job had many blessings in his life: a large family, a devoted spouse, and wealth that provided plenty and more for his household. Job gave thanks to God for his blessings, but even when nearly every blessing was taken away, he did not lessen his faith. Instead, as those around him said his faith had been a waste of time, Job showed his trust in the Lord by exercising Christlike patience and long suffering. Eventually, Job’s faith was rewarded, and his trust in God was justified.
