Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 6 | January 30 - February 5

We have multiple lessons for a variety of ages in our digital subscription to help you find what works best for your family. Our goal is to help families come closer to Christ and we’ve worked really hard on providing more options to help families implement Come Follow Me in their home.

Toddler Come Follow Me Activity

The activities this week will help your family learn to follow Jesus and share His light

  1. Read or summarize Luke 5:1-11 and Matthew 4:18-22. Teach what it means to do something “straightway” by giving your child a simple task like washing their hands. When they do it right away, praise them. Color the coloring page as you teach that the apostles left their nets straightway to follow Jesus.
  2. Read Matthew 4:1-11 and teach that we are all tempted by Satan to make wrong choices. We can resist temptation with help from Jesus. Sing Choose the Right Way (Children’s Songbook pg 160) and introduce the CTR chart. Print one for each child and give them a fun sticker to mark off the task each day after they complete it.
  3. In Luke 4:18-19 we read about how Jesus is our Savior. This means He saves us or helps us return to Heavenly Father. Role play ways we can help others. Ex. When someone is sad or sick.

“God Meant It unto Good”

Joseph’s forgiveness of his brothers did not come after they had paid restitution or offered an apology. He forgave them the moment he realized they had changed from their jealous ways when they offered themselves in place of Benjamin for punishment. How overwhelming it must have been for Joseph to see such love amongst his brothers. His forgiveness came with no strings attached: “be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves” (Genesis 45:5).

In every moment of Joseph’s story, God was with him. From his brothers’ betrayal and serving Potiphar, to a friend of Pharaoh and the savior of his family, at no time was Joseph forgotten by God. Through the good and the bad, he trusted that God knew who he was and had faith that everything would be all right.

“Let God Prevail”

Abraham’s posterity was promised many blessings of eternal significance, but that didn’t mean everything would be perfect. His grandsons, Jacob and Esau, fought over who should inherit their father’s birthright. Relatives lied to and tricked each other. The prophet’s very own family was dysfunctional, yet that didn’t stop those who were righteous from striving to follow Jesus Christ.
