Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 35 | August 16 - August 22

We have multiple Come Follow Me subscriptions and multiple activities in each subscription to help you find what works best for your family. Our goal is to help families come closer to Christ and we’ve worked really hard on providing more options to help achieve our goal.

Toddler Come Follow Me Activity

Sing the song “If You’re Happy” from the Children’s Songbook. Sing it multiple times and add a different action each time. Teach that our bodies are so amazing and can do many things. Heavenly Father has taught us how to care for our bodies by giving us the Word of Wisdom. Make the “My Healthy Body Puppet” and play the guessing game. At the end of the lesson make a fruit smoothie. Share how the Word of Wisdom blesses your life and helps you keep your body healthy.

Simplified Come Follow Me Activity

Have your family perform different actions with their bodies like jumping jacks. Explain that our bodies are God’s gift to us. Create the “Our Bodies Are A Gift From God Craft.” Let each person say two things they are grateful they can do because they have a body.

Review what you have learned about the word of wisdom this week. For younger kids use the “Word of Wisdom Sort Page” to cut, sort, and glue the good and bad things for our body. For older kids discuss the quote by Elder Stevenson. He teaches us to plan ahead. Let children make a plan of what they would do in each situation using the “Word of Wisdom Writing Page.”

“Be Strong and of a Good Courage”

Most of the Israelites heading into the Promised Land had been born in the wilderness. Few remembered the treacherous journey across the bottom of the Red Sea, yet all would experience the miracle again as they crossed the Jordan River on dry ground. This time, however, it was not a crowd of fleeing former slaves who worshipped golden calves. It was the camp of Israel, a covenant-making people who had proven their faithfulness to the Lord.

“Beware Lest Thou Forget the Lord”

Moses taught that faith is best nurtured through the natural rhythms of family life rather than through formal lessons alone. He commanded parents: “Thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way” (Deuteronomy 6:7). Integrating gospel conversations into daily activities helps our children guard against “forgetting the Lord” during times of ease and prosperity.

“Rebel Not Ye against the Lord, Neither Fear”

Moses did not have an easy time being the Israelite’s prophet. From constant squabbles amongst the people to outright apostasy against the Lord, there was plenty of drama he had to deal with. As a prophet, Moses knew what the Israelites could be if they stayed faithful. He told Joshua it would be less of a struggle if everyone could see what the Lord had shown him: “would God that all the Lord’s people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them!” (Numbers 11:29).
