The Promises… Shall Be Fulfilled

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 19 | April 26 - May 2

We have multiple Come Follow Me subscriptions and multiple activities in each subscription to help you find what works best for your family. Our goal is to help families come closer to Christ and we’ve worked really hard on providing more options to help achieve our goal.

Toddler Come Follow Me Activity

Show your family a picture of the temple and teach about it being a holy place. Explain that a holy place is a place where we can feel of Heavenly Father’s love and learn more about Him. Read D&C 45:32. Teach that our homes and church buildings are also holy places. Play the “Stand in Holy Places Musical March Game.” Cut out the pictures of the temple, church, and home and place in a circle on the ground. Play some primary songs and let everyone march in a circle. When you stop the music everyone hurries to stand on a holy place. Talk about where each player is standing and how it is a holy place. Repeat the game, taking turns standing in Holy Places. You can add blank paper circles to allow more players.

Simplified Come Follow Me Activity

Read together D&C 45:66. Let everyone complete the “Zion Puzzle.” Discuss the pictures on each piece. Each one represents qualities of Zion. You can learn more about Zion by looking up scriptures in the Topical Guide, read the Bible Dictionary, or look up conference talks.

CREATE IT ACTIVITY:

Show the “Stand Ye In Holy Places Print” and read the scripture together. Discuss what it means to stand in holy places. Create the 3D temple. Let the children use lego people or pictures of themselves to put in and out of the temple as you talk about how we can stand in holy places.

SURPRISE COME FOLLOW ME ACTIVITY:

Create the “Christ Will Come Again Tree Craft.” For the winter branches you can use cotton balls or white paint. For spring use pink tissue paper for the spring blossoms. Color the leaves on the summer branches green. Cut out fall colored leaves out of construction paper for the autumn leaves. Read D&C 45:37-38. Discuss that just like there are signs for the changing seasons and there were signs for Christ’s birth and death, today there are signs for when He will come again.

“We Believe”

Though we have reached the end of the Doctrine and Covenants, the work of the Restoration is still ongoing: “We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God” (Articles of Faith 1:9). Prophets still reveal the will of God. The Church is still growing to fill the Earth.

“The Vision of the Redemption of the Dead”

“What happens after we die?” This is a question commonly asked by all of God’s children. Because of continuing revelation through living prophets, we know! Doctrine and Covenants Sections 137 and 138 reveal that our loved ones who have died go to a place of rest if they were faithful in their testimony of Christ, where they are then prepared to teach the gospel in the spirit world. Those who died who were not faithful are given the opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ and accept ordinances performed by the living: “and thus was the gospel preached to the dead” (D&C 138:30).

He “Has Sealed His Mission and His Works with His Own Blood”

Doctrine and Covenants Section 135 could be viewed as the conclusion of the entire Doctrine and Covenants scriptures, were it not for additional revelation given to the saints. This section witnesses the divinity of the Prophet Joseph’s calling. It declares Joseph’s work to be of God and that it will never fail. It also testifies that those who read the Doctrine and Covenants, as well as the Book of Mormon, “will be reminded that the Book of Mormon, and this book of Doctrine and Covenants of the church, cost the best blood of the nineteenth century to bring them forth” (D&C 135:6).
