Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 24 | June 10-16 | Alma 5-7

Does it ever seem like you can’t get your kids to be nice to each other? Does doing the same thing over and over not make any difference? Alma found that as prophet, doing the same thing over and over wasn’t helping the people of Zarahemla repent. However, Alma realized that what his people needed wasn’t more lecturing. They needed a “mighty change” of heart (Alma 5: 14) as he did when he was a rebellious youth.

Just like Alma, you can inspire a mighty change of heart in your family by leading by example. In addition, this week’s lesson and activities focus on helping your children strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ. From growing a “testimony garden” to becoming like missionaries, your family will discover what it means to have a mighty change of heart.

Access inspiring lessons that teach straight from the scriptures and include everything you need to make Come, Follow Me a joy for your kids. THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

The elementary bundle is a treasure trove for kids aged 4-11, featuring activities that instill key principles. Let’s explore three highlights:

Attributes in Action

Scripture Study

Read Alma 7:23-24. Read through the sections in Chapter 6 of Preach My Gospel. As a family, discuss what those attributes look like in action. Draw or write how you are going to develop those attributes in “My Christlike Attribute Book.”

Testimony Garden

Hands-On Activity

Begin by discussing the things that are needed to grow a plant. Then read Alma 5:45-46 and discuss how you can grow your testimony. Assemble your Testimony Garden Toolbox. Then plant a “testimony plant” with your family. Put your toolbox next to your plant. Every time you do something to take care of your plant, do something to take care of your testimony by picking a tool from the toolbox.

Staying On the Path

Coloring Activity

Read Alma 7:19-20 as a family and talk about how Heavenly Father loves us so much and wants us to live with Him again. He has given us the tools that will help us stay on the path (commandments, scriptures, prophets). Discuss the things that you can do to stay on the path as you color the “His Paths Are Straight” coloring page together.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams. The toddler bundle Includes a full lesson plan with THREE activities that align with scripture written by an early childhood educator. These include a coloring page, another printable activity, and a movement activity that helps young children understand the scriptures. Here are a couple of highlights from this week’s lesson.

Jesus Came to Earth to Save Me

Hands-On Activity

Help your child build a relationship with Jesus Christ this week by focusing on Alma 7:10-13. Prepare the “Nativity Finger Puppets” activity and the “Nativity Finger Puppet Story Guide” to help your child learn and interact with the people and animals that were involved in Jesus’ birth. When you are finished, you might ask them to teach you about some of the people and animals that were involved in the birth of Jesus. Have them give you and your family a puppet show of their learned version of that special night when the star shone bright. When you are finished, express the importance of how Jesus came to earth for them because He loves them. Because He was born and then later died for all of our mistakes, He makes it possible for us to be happy as we repent, or say sorry, for our wrong choices. Leave the puppets in a special place for them to use during their playtime throughout the week as they reenact the story.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“I Will Order All Things for Your Good”

Have you ever had a powerful spiritual experience and felt the joy of God’s love, only to feel down again when normal life resumes? Or an hour where your children were seemingly perfect and kind to one another, but the rest of the day was awful? This might have been how the early saints felt by the end of the year following the dedication of the Kirtland Temple. Life itself didn’t get easier with the temple’s completion. Financial troubles and increased persecution made enduring to the end difficult for many saints. Yet those who persevered were blessed not only with strength but also with direction on how they could be a blessing to God’s children even amidst their own trials. The Lord’s comforting words to them are extended to us today as we also can help others feel loved during our own struggles: “Let thy heart be of good cheer before my face… for I, the Lord, have a great work for thee to do” (D&C 112:4,6).

“It Is Thy House, a Place of Thy Holiness”

March 27, 1836, was a special date both on earth and in heaven. For the first time since 70 AD, a temple of God was available for men and women to worship in. Many saints who were present for the dedication saw angels celebrating the return of temple blessings to the world. The Lord Jesus Christ shared His own joy of the temple’s completion in Doctrine and Covenants 110:6-7, when he said, “let the hearts of all my people rejoice, who have, with their might, built this house to my name. For behold, I have accepted this house…”.

“The Order of the Son of God”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is organized according to the Lord’s instructions, as detailed in this week’s reading in the Doctrine and Covenants. One of the ways we can apply the Lord’s guidance in these sections to our families is to establish councils within our homes. We should, with our children, “sit in council with them, and to teach them their duty, edifying one another” (D&C 107:85).
