It Is They House, A Place Of Thy Holiness

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 41 | September 27 - October 3

We have multiple Come Follow Me subscriptions and multiple activities in each subscription to help you find what works best for your family. Our goal is to help families come closer to Christ and we’ve worked really hard on providing more options to help achieve our goal.

Toddler Come Follow Me Activity

Gather your children’s favorite books and display them and include the scriptures. Play a “guess that book” game by providing clues like characters or the story line. Let them guess what book you are describing. You can take turns giving clues and guessing. Read D&C 109:7. Teach that Heavenly Father wants us to learn from the best books. Testify that the scriptures are true and contain the truths that Heavenly Father wants us to know. Color the coloring page then read some of the books together.

Simplified Come Follow Me Activity

Read D&C 109:9 and teach that salutations mean an action to acknowledge someone, in this case, God. Make a list of salutations we can do to the Lord each day. Introduce the “Our Salutations To The Lord Chart.” Challenge your family to show salutations to God each day this week. Give each person a wristband to help them remember the challenge. Record what your family did each night.

CREATE IT ACTIVITY:

Before the lesson cut and prepare the “Popsicle Stick Puzzles.” Read D&C 109:16 and discuss how the temple can be “a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of glory and of God.” Consider sharing experiences of when you have attended the temple to pray, fast, or in faith. Then give the children the popsicle stick puzzle to complete.

STUDY IT ACTIVITY:

This week study D&C 109:12-13 and the song “I Love To See The Temple” on page 95 in the Children’s Songbook. Also read and study the quote in the Come Follow Me Manual for Individuals and Families on page 168 from President Nelson. Think about how you can follow the counsel given to have a regular “appointment with the Lord.” Display the Temple Prints to help you stay focused on the temple this week.

“Our Eyes Are upon Thee”

After many years of living separately, King Hezekiah of Judah invited the people of the Kingdom of Israel to come down to Jerusalem and worship the Lord during the Passover. Many who came to the temple did not remember all the cleansing ordinances and were not fully prepared to participate. Rather than scorn them, Hezekiah made sure that no one who attended Passover was left out: “The good Lord pardon every one that prepareth his heart to seek God” (2 Chronicles 30:18-19). Because of this, “there was great joy” during the Passover in Jerusalem as the people grew closer together in worship (2 Chronicles 30:26).

“He Trusted in the Lord God of Israel”

Josiah was a righteous king of Judah. He desired to bring the people back into their covenant relationship with the Lord, yet there was no way to remember the Law of Moses: the people had forgotten it. However, when ancient scripture texts were found in the temple, Josiah was able to remind his people of the law and blessings of their covenant. The people began to feel God’s presence again as worship of the Savior resumed “with all their heart and all their soul” (2 Kings 23:3).

“There Is a Prophet in Israel”

Miracles are a must-have in parenting. From remembering to take a few breaths when we discover marker all over the couch, to pleading for the health of our little ones when they’re sick, we need miracles every day. The stories of Elisha the Prophet remind us that the Lord is aware of the parent and their child at all times.
