Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 30 | July 20-26 | 2 Chronicles 14–20; 26; 30

After many years of living separately, King Hezekiah of Judah invited the people of the Kingdom of Israel to come down to Jerusalem and worship the Lord during the Passover. Many who came to the temple did not remember all the cleansing ordinances and were not fully prepared to participate. Rather than scorn them, Hezekiah made sure that no one who attended Passover was left out: “The good Lord pardon every one that prepareth his heart to seek God” (2 Chronicles 30:18-19). Because of this, “there was great joy” during the Passover in Jerusalem as the people grew closer together in worship (2 Chronicles 30:26).

When we invite others to play with our children, we should never exclude anyone based on their faith (or lack of faith). We can grow closer as God’s family as we make our homes a place of peace to all and our hearts willing to make new friendships. We and those we welcome will have “great joy” just as the Israelites did.

Come Follow Me FHE lessons include everything you need to make gospel study fun for your family! Empower your children to love the gospel with our scripture-focused lesson activities. Start your free trial now!

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Joy and Cheer

Hands-On Activity

The Lord wants all His children to be happy! Read 2 Chronicles 30:26 aloud and emphasize the word “joy.” Ask your children what brings them joy, and share some joyful family experiences. Make the Cheerful Necklaces as a reminder to find joy and cheer in all you do this week!

Rely on the Lord

Surprise Activity

Gather your family for a fun FHE game night! Read about King Asa and his reign in 2 Chronicles 15–16. As you read, look for ways he turned to others for help instead of relying on the Lord. Discuss how we should turn to the Lord in our trials. After reading, play Headbandz together using scriptures to help you guess people, objects, and modern-day prophetic phrases about following the Lord.

Song of the Heart

Coloring Page

In the Old Testament, we read about singing and praising God through music. Read 2 Chronicles 20:21 as a family and share your favorite hymn. Emma Smith was called to compile the first hymnal for the Church, and many of those songs are still sung today! Talk about how music can strengthen your testimony as you color the Song of the Heart coloring page.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

Jump for Joy

Family Activity

The Lord wants all His children to feel happiness and experience joy! Joy not only makes us happy, but it also brings happiness to Heavenly Father and Jesus. Many prophets in the Old Testament were righteous men who followed the Lord and made Him happy. Read 2 Chronicles 30:26 and emphasize the word “joy.” Have the children jump or clap every time they hear the word as you read. Share things that bring you joy and show pictures. Some examples might include family, nature, and the temple.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“He Trusted in the Lord God of Israel”

Josiah was a righteous king of Judah. He desired to bring the people back into their covenant relationship with the Lord, yet there was no way to remember the Law of Moses: the people had forgotten it. However, when ancient scripture texts were found in the temple, Josiah was able to remind his people of the law and blessings of their covenant. The people began to feel God’s presence again as worship of the Savior resumed “with all their heart and all their soul” (2 Kings 23:3).

“There Is a Prophet in Israel”

Miracles are a must-have in parenting. From remembering to take a few breaths when we discover marker all over the couch, to pleading for the health of our little ones when they’re sick, we need miracles every day. The stories of Elisha the Prophet remind us that the Lord is aware of the parent and their child at all times.
