24 Book of Mormon Treats your Family will Love!

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

This year as we study The Book of Mormon in Come Follow Me (as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) we are including Book of Mormon treats at our house. Scroll down for our favorite treats!

When it comes down to it, food brings people together! Our kids never whine about joining us for a lesson when a snack is involved. Bonus points, these align with your weekly scripture study for quarter three and quarter four for Book of Mormon 2020. Eating and teaching about God’s word, now I call that winning!

Homemade sacrament bread was eaten up in an hour at my house. It is the most simple bread recipe I have ever made and it’s a crowd pleaser. It helps in teaching about love using verses in the Book of Mormon.

An absolute favorite at our house was these fun mini scripture krispies that match up with fourth quarter come follow me study. Each Book of Mormon treat recipe also comes with two styles of printable tags. This makes it easy to tie in the principle being taught with the treat, to use for a primary lesson or to deliver some goodies to a neighbor.

Toward the end of the Book of Mormon we read about the Jaredite people. “They were many times buried in the depths of the sea.” Ether 6:6 These simple sea cracker treats are perfect when you learn about the barges at sea. I love that even toddlers can make these!

When we study come follow me for week 44 we learn about how we are all created in God’s image. These sugar cookies are THE YUMMIEST! Add buttercream and candy to make them special! Let your kids make a portrait sugar cookie to help them remember they are created in His image. I mean how cute are these? They will bring kids hours of creating fun!

At my house we made this one just the other night and my kids have not stopped asking when we can make it again. Enter the magic of faith pudding cups. A lot of chocolate and a lot of fun! The darling tags are available with the recipe and remind us to plant God’s word in our hearts.

These light fluffy lemon cupcakes will make you smile! In 3 Nephi of The Book of Mormon we learn, “Lift up your head and be of good cheer.” These smiling sunshine cupcakes will help your family remember this truth.

I always say that the best way to learn the gospel of Jesus Christ is to make it part of your everyday life. Do you know what? These plan of salvation sandwiches are the perfect way to do just that. Simple, fun and can be served for lunch as you teach about the three kingdoms in heaven.

“I Will Order All Things for Your Good”

Have you ever had a powerful spiritual experience and felt the joy of God’s love, only to feel down again when normal life resumes? Or an hour where your children were seemingly perfect and kind to one another, but the rest of the day was awful? This might have been how the early saints felt by the end of the year following the dedication of the Kirtland Temple. Life itself didn’t get easier with the temple’s completion. Financial troubles and increased persecution made enduring to the end difficult for many saints. Yet those who persevered were blessed not only with strength but also with direction on how they could be a blessing to God’s children even amidst their own trials. The Lord’s comforting words to them are extended to us today as we also can help others feel loved during our own struggles: “Let thy heart be of good cheer before my face… for I, the Lord, have a great work for thee to do” (D&C 112:4,6).

“It Is Thy House, a Place of Thy Holiness”

March 27, 1836, was a special date both on earth and in heaven. For the first time since 70 AD, a temple of God was available for men and women to worship in. Many saints who were present for the dedication saw angels celebrating the return of temple blessings to the world. The Lord Jesus Christ shared His own joy of the temple’s completion in Doctrine and Covenants 110:6-7, when he said, “let the hearts of all my people rejoice, who have, with their might, built this house to my name. For behold, I have accepted this house…”.

“The Order of the Son of God”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is organized according to the Lord’s instructions, as detailed in this week’s reading in the Doctrine and Covenants. One of the ways we can apply the Lord’s guidance in these sections to our families is to establish councils within our homes. We should, with our children, “sit in council with them, and to teach them their duty, edifying one another” (D&C 107:85).
