Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 28 | July 6-12 | 2 Kings 2–7

Miracles are a must-have in parenting. From remembering to take a few breaths when we discover marker all over the couch, to pleading for the health of our little ones when they’re sick, we need miracles every day. The stories of Elisha the Prophet remind us that the Lord is aware of the parent and their child at all times.

Elijah taught that when we put the Lord first, we show humility and faith. In return, we gain access to daily miracles that help us parent and teach our children. We will see these miracles in our lives more often as we put our trust in Him. He will “open [our] eyes, that [we] may see” how much He truly cares (2 Kings 6:17).

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Made Clean Through Obedience

Scripture Study

Study 2 Kings 5:1–15 using the Naaman Made Clean in the Jordan story wheel to help your family learn this Old Testament story. Follow the instructions to assemble the wheel and discover how Naaman, a man with leprosy, was made clean after washing in the Jordan River seven times—through his faith and obedience.

Miracle Rainbow

Hands-On Activity

Elisha healed and blessed many people during his ministry, and miracles were happening often. Read about one of these miracles in 2 Kings 5:1–15, along with others in the Old Testament, as you complete the Miracle Rainbow Puzzle Art. Hang it somewhere in your home to remind your family that Heavenly Father is a God of miracles. Talk about how He still performs miracles today, and as a family, share some of the miracles you’ve witnessed in your own lives.

Obedience Tug of War

Surprise Activity

Sometimes it’s hard to be obedient and faithful. Naaman wanted to be healed quickly but didn’t expect such simple instructions. Like Naaman, we sometimes experience a tug of war within ourselves when we know what’s right but struggle to follow through. Read 2 Kings 5:10–13 and talk about ways you can choose to obey quickly to receive the blessings Heavenly Father is ready to give. Then, play the Obedience Tug of War game.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

Follow the Prophet

Family Activity

Show your child a picture of the living prophet. Ask your child if they recognize the person in the picture. Explain that the person is a prophet of God. A prophet teaches others about Jesus. The prophet shows us how to make good choices. He warns us of dangers so that we can be safe. Heavenly Father has had many prophets on the Earth. Prophets like Adam and Noah. These prophets died long ago, but Heavenly Father has a prophet on the Earth today named Dallin H. Oaks. Share your testimony about the living prophet and his teachings. With your child, do the Follow the Prophet – Sing and Move activity.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“If the Lord Be God, Follow Him”

By the time the Israelites had their third king, the nation split into two groups: the 10 tribes in the north, forming the Kingdom of Israel, and the remaining two tribes in the south, forming the Kingdom of Judah. The Lord called a mighty prophet, Elijah, to remind His people of their true King: Jehovah (Jesus Christ). Elijah testified to the people that their idol worship was taking them farther away from God.

“Hear Thou in Heaven Their Prayer”

Going from tabernacle to temple was a big deal for the Israelites. So big, in fact, that even those building the temple had to be worthy of the task. David’s sin in his lust for Bathsheba disqualified him to build the Lord’s house, resulting in his son Solomon completing it. For building the temple with a pure heart, the Lord promised Solomon that so long as he kept the commandments, “I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people” (1 Kings 6:13).
