Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 11 | March 10-16 | Doctrine and Covenants 20-22

Imagine what it must have been like to witness the first sacrament meeting in the latter days. Conducted by the Prophet Joseph, the early saints met to pray, sing, partake of the sacrament, and officially organize themselves as The Church of Jesus Christ. It was a day literally centuries in the making.

The work of the Lord in restoring His Church is something we can all take part in. As we read in section 20, “God does inspire men (and women) and call them to his holy work” (D&C 20:11). We can each invite others to come unto Christ, make covenants with Him through His restored Church, and help unite families for all eternity.

Come Follow Me FHE lessons include everything you need to make gospel study fun for your family! Empower your children to love the gospel with our scripture-focused lesson activities. Start your free trial now!

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

The lesson for this week is simplified but intentional to focus your thoughts and efforts on the Savior and His birth. We hope you take the time to use the activities provided to incorporate the light of Christ into your lives and into this special season

Blessed By Baptism

Scripture Study

As a family, read D&C 22 about baptizing with the correct authority. Then, have the person in your family who was most recently baptized share their experience. What happened? What feelings did they have? What was their favorite part? Who baptized them, and who gave them the authority to baptize? Finish by reading D&C 20:37 and share your testimony of baptism.

Word Art

Surprise Activity

Read D&C 21:1-5. Use the I Can Follow The Prophet collage page, and let children rip pictures out of magazines, draw pictures, or use pictures of themselves to show ways that they are following the prophet.

Ye Shall Receive

Coloring Page

Read D&C 21:5 and talk about how our prophet speaks by the power of the Holy Ghost. Then let children color the “For his word ye shall receive…” coloring page while you talk about some things our prophet talked about in the last General Conference.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

Join the Team of Christ

Go & Do Activity

Show your child a team jersey or uniform. Let your child try it on! (If you don’t have a jersey, show a picture of someone wearing a jersey.) Explain that when someone wears this jersey, it shows that they are a member of a team! They represent the team and work together with other team members to do their best. Show a picture of Jesus Christ. Teach that we become members of Jesus Christ’s team when we join His true church. We do not wear a jersey, instead, we get baptized, follow Christ’s example and teach others about His gospel. Place the playdough mats into clear page protectors, laminate or cover with plastic wrap. With your child, recreate the images by pressing playdough onto the mats. Share what blessings you receive from being on Christ’s team.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“Be Strong and of a Good Courage”

Most of the Israelites heading into the Promised Land had been born in the wilderness. Few remembered the treacherous journey across the bottom of the Red Sea, yet all would experience the miracle again as they crossed the Jordan River on dry ground. This time, however, it was not a crowd of fleeing former slaves who worshipped golden calves. It was the camp of Israel, a covenant-making people who had proven their faithfulness to the Lord.

“Beware Lest Thou Forget the Lord”

Moses taught that faith is best nurtured through the natural rhythms of family life rather than through formal lessons alone. He commanded parents: “Thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way” (Deuteronomy 6:7). Integrating gospel conversations into daily activities helps our children guard against “forgetting the Lord” during times of ease and prosperity.

“Rebel Not Ye against the Lord, Neither Fear”

Moses did not have an easy time being the Israelite’s prophet. From constant squabbles amongst the people to outright apostasy against the Lord, there was plenty of drama he had to deal with. As a prophet, Moses knew what the Israelites could be if they stayed faithful. He told Joshua it would be less of a struggle if everyone could see what the Lord had shown him: “would God that all the Lord’s people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them!” (Numbers 11:29).
