With your child plan a picnic. Let them help you make a list of everything you need and gathering the supplies. Talk about how important it is to prepare for the picnic so you have everything and don’t forget anything. Teach that we also need to prepare for Jesus to come again. Read D&C 133:4. Discuss ways we can prepare for Jesus to come again. Include in your discussion praying everyday, reading the scriptures, and loving those around us. Make the “I Can Prepare For The Second Coming of Jesus Christ Mobile.” Hang the mobile in your home to remind you to prepare for the second coming.

Simplified Come Follow Me Activity

Read D&C 133:1-19. Scan the QR code on the activity page to watch the video titled, “They That Are Wise.” Relate the Ten Virgins to us preparing for the second coming. Use the “I Can Prepare Activity” to learn about ways we can prepare for the Savior’s second coming spiritually, physically, and financially.

“Our Eyes Are upon Thee”

After many years of living separately, King Hezekiah of Judah invited the people of the Kingdom of Israel to come down to Jerusalem and worship the Lord during the Passover. Many who came to the temple did not remember all the cleansing ordinances and were not fully prepared to participate. Rather than scorn them, Hezekiah made sure that no one who attended Passover was left out: “The good Lord pardon every one that prepareth his heart to seek God” (2 Chronicles 30:18-19). Because of this, “there was great joy” during the Passover in Jerusalem as the people grew closer together in worship (2 Chronicles 30:26).

“He Trusted in the Lord God of Israel”

Josiah was a righteous king of Judah. He desired to bring the people back into their covenant relationship with the Lord, yet there was no way to remember the Law of Moses: the people had forgotten it. However, when ancient scripture texts were found in the temple, Josiah was able to remind his people of the law and blessings of their covenant. The people began to feel God’s presence again as worship of the Savior resumed “with all their heart and all their soul” (2 Kings 23:3).
