As a family sing the song “Do As I’m Doing.” Let your child choose the action and everyone else follows them. Then show a picture of the prophet and explain that Heavenly Father has given us a prophet and asked us to follow him. When we follow the prophet we will be kept safe from dangers and come closer to Heavenly Father. Use the “Follow The Prophet Activity.” Place the arrows around your home and play follow the leader as the leader follows the arrows. Display the “Follow The Prophet Banner” in your home during the week.

Read D&C 121:1-8, 122:5-9, and 123:17. Discuss how Joseph Smith felt like everything was going wrong for him and the saints. Christ was there for them in their trials and they all overcame their hard times. Use the “Liberty Jail Object Lesson” to help teach this principle.

Give your child ten small snacks. Let them count how many there are. Ask them to give you one back. Try this activity again with something like coins. Explain that Heavenly Father has commanded us to pay tithing. Whenever we earn money we are asked to give 1/10 back to Heavenly Father. This money is used to help build churches, temples, and teach the gospel to the whole world.

As a family discuss things you treasure. Write your answers on the back of the gems. Read D&C 110-2, 9-11. Hide the treasure gems around the house. With your child go on a treasure hunt and collect all the gems.
