They Were Called the People of God

One of Alma the Elder’s most difficult challenges of serving as his people’s prophet was to have his son work against him. Alma the Younger did much to destroy the church, which must have grieved his father. In our day, we are also sometimes too aware of the poor choices made by loved ones. Just like Alma the Elder, our prayers will be answered so long as we keep the faith and strive to love those who need our help.

A Light … That Can Never Be Darkened

In a land where the wicked ruled, one man heard God’s call to choose the right. Abinadai preached to King Noah and his priests, teaching them essential truths about Jesus Christ and His divine role as the Savior of the world. We can follow Abinadai’s example by sharing their testimonies and teaching that “redemption cometh through Christ the Lord” (Mosiah 16:15).

In the Strength of the Lord

One of those who heard King Benjamin’s speech was a man named Ammon, who found the people of Limhi deep inside the lands of the Lamanites. Because he listened to the prophet’s voice, he was able to share the gospel with an entire kingdom of lost Nephites! Just like Ammon, we can also treasure up the words of God’s prophets and bring light to those who need to know God loves them.

A Mighty Change

Continue to learn from profound teachings found in Mosiah chapters 4-6, where the wisdom of King Benjamin inspires our faith. Within these chapters, we are encouraged to “Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things” (Mosiah 4:9). The blessings that come from keeping covenants and serving one another are also central to truths taught by the prophet-king. As we explore these messages the Spirit can speak to our hearts and grow our faith in the Savior.
