Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 41 | October 5-11 | Isaiah 50–57

Some of Isaiah’s greatest teachings were his reminders that the Lord loves His people. Though they stumbled over their own mistakes constantly, the Lord never stopped repeating His love for them and His willingness to forgive them, for He is “thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people” (Isaiah 51:22).

Does God ever get tired of hearing our prayers? Will He give up on helping us when we’ve made the same mistake over and over? Isaiah declares without a doubt that the answer is no. The love that He showed us in Gethsemane has no expiration: “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows… and with His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5). The Lord is always ready to hear us, forgive us, and help us feel His love.

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!

Strengthen Your Stakes

Scripture Study

Follow the instructions on the Strengthen Thy Stakes activity page. Read Isaiah 54:2 with your family. Then, make a blanket tent and sit inside it. Explain that Isaiah 54:2 talks about members of the Church teaching the gospel to people all over the Earth. Next, read Isaiah 54:7-8, 10. Share your testimony of Jesus Christ and discuss ways you can share His gospel with others.

All Our Sins and Sorrows

Hands-On Activity

Help your children understand that Jesus Christ took upon Himself all of our sins and sorrows. Read Isaiah 53:3–9 together as a family. Then, to visually show how Christ can take away our sins, complete the Atonement Object Lesson. Teach your children that Jesus Christ suffered for them because He loves them.

The Lord’s Invitation

Surprise Activity

As you read Isaiah 51–52, notice the many invitations the Lord gives us. As a family, read the verses together and discuss what each invitation means. Attach the leaves to the Leafy Tree Craft as you go, using each one to represent something the Lord is inviting us to do. Discover His messages for you as you build your tree together.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

We Can Be a Sunbeam

Family Activity

Teach your children that the sun gives light and warmth to the whole world. We can be like the sun—giving light to others by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. When we treat others with kindness, we reflect His love. When we teach others about His Church, we help light the path that leads them to follow Him. Read Isaiah 52:7 together. Explain that we are blessed when we share the good news of Jesus Christ and bring His light to others. Create a Sunbeam mask for your child. As they wear the mask, sing “Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam” (Children’s Songbook, p. 60). Then, share your testimony about how you feel when you share the Savior’s love with those around you.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.

“Comfort Ye My People”

There are stages in life that feel like they go on forever, especially in parenthood: sleepless nights helping kids stay in their own beds, potty training for weeks unending, and running to and from after-school activities. While the privilege of being a parent is a blessing, it can be exhausting just trying to keep up every day. Isaiah taught that when we feel like we have nothing left in us, we should rely on the Lord to give us strength (Isiah 40:29). After all, are we not caring for His children?

“A Marvellous Work and a Wonder”

One could look at the work being done by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today and describe it as “marvelous” and a “wonder” (Isaiah 29:14). With temples across the world, missionaries on nearly every continent, and millions of suffering people relieved by Church aid, it truly is impressive. Yet Isaiah marveled not at the Church itself, but at the healing power of Jesus Christ in the hearts of so many of God’s children. It’s not the temples themselves that are a wonder, but the eternal covenants made inside. It’s not the number of missionaries serving that is a marvelous work, but the individual souls who are being taught by each sister and elder. It’s not the exact dollar amount spent on humanitarian efforts that made Isaiah’s vision great, but the difference made in each life through kindness and giving in the Savior’s name.
