Scripture Study
Read Jeremiah 17:7–8 and discuss what it means to trust and hope in the Lord. Share personal experiences when you put your trust in Him. Next, take the tree printable and write ways you can better trust in the Lord on the roots of the tree. Continue with the Trust and Hope in the Lord object lesson over the next few weeks to help your child see how putting our hope in the Lord brings blessings.
Fishers of Men
Hands-On Activity
Have fun being Heavenly Father’s “fishers” as you visit the Fish Pond with your family! Read Jeremiah 16:14-16 and discuss how you can help Heavenly Father “fish” for those who have been lost in different ways, just like Jesus was a “fisher of men.” Before starting this activity, print and cut out the fish (laminate them if you want), create a “pond,” and get your fishing pole ready.
God Knew Me
Surprise Activity
Help your children understand that Heavenly Father knew them before they were born and continues to know them now. Read Jeremiah 1:5 and discuss how Heavenly Father knew Jeremiah before he was born and had already prepared him to be a prophet. Then, sing songs and complete the Plan of Salvation Puzzle together.

Family Activity
Explain that Heavenly Father has a plan for each of us. If we allow Him to guide us throughout our lives, we will be blessed. Teach that Heavenly Father is like a potter—a potter takes a mound of clay, shapes it with his hands, and makes something special and beautiful. Read Jeremiah 18:1-6 together. Then watch the video of a potter by scanning the QR code below. With your child, create shapes using playdough. Talk about ways Heavenly Father has formed and shaped your life with His hands. Sing “I Will Follow God’s Plan” (Children’s Songbook, p. 164). Share your testimony about how you have been blessed when you have allowed Heavenly Father to shape your life.

“The Redeemer Shall Come to Zion”
Isaiah taught more about the principle of fasting than any other Old Testament prophet, teaching that giving something up for the Lord is more than just going without food and drink. Its purpose is much holier: “Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free” (Isaiah 58:6). Fasting frees us from constraints on our spirit, allowing us to be more sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Ghost.

“He Hath Borne Our Griefs, and Carried Our Sorrows”
Some of Isaiah’s greatest teachings were his reminders that the Lord loves His people. Though they stumbled over their own mistakes constantly, the Lord never stopped repeating His love for them and His willingness to forgive them, for He is “thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people” (Isaiah 51:22).
