The Gathering of the Faithful

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 16 | April 15-21 | Enos-Words of Mormon

In the entirety of the Book of Mormon, power of prayer is taught most clearly by the prophet Enos. His “wrestle which [he] had before God” (Enos 1:2) shows us how we can find peace and hope through our relationship with Christ.

This week’s lesson covers the mighty prayer of Enos, the journey of the Nephites in their commitment to the Lord, and an introduction from Mormon himself. Be prepared for fun crafts and other activities that will help your family discover more ways you can strengthen your ties to the Savior.

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

The elementary bundle is a treasure trove for kids aged 4-11, featuring activities that instill key principles. Let’s explore three highlights:

Words of Mormon Scripture Aid

Scripture Study

Before reading Words of Mormon (the whole book… it’s only one chapter!), give each of your children one of the “Insights on The Words of Mormon” glue-ins. Read the glue-in and point out that Mormon included these scriptures because they were special to him and he was inspired to include them.

Prayer Books

Go & Do Activity

Begin by reading the first chapter of Enos with your family. Then sing “A Prayer Song” (Children’s Songbook, pg. 22) and practice doing what it says. Use the Five Finger Prayer Book and teach what we can pray about. Practice this format of prayer this week and consider choosing someone to pray for.

Enos Prayer Wheel

Hands-On Activity

Display a picture of Enos as you read Enos 1:4-27. Use emotion while you read aloud or call on children who can read to take a turn. Enos teaches that our heartfelt prayers will be answered. Discuss this with your family and share a time when your prayer was answered. Create the “Enos Prayer Wheel” and let children use it to retell the story in their own words.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams. The toddler bundle Includes a full lesson plan with THREE activities that align with scripture written by an early childhood educator. These include a coloring page, another printable activity, and a movement activity that helps young children understand the scriptures. Here are a couple of highlights from this week’s lesson.

Prayer Sandwich

Hands-On Activity

Before you begin teaching, print a “Prayer Sandwich” for each child in your home. Cut out the pieces before the lesson for easy assembly with toddlers. In Enos 1:1-5, Enos prays mightily to the Lord. Just like Enos prayed, we can pray

too! Ask your children when we can pray. Let them share ideas. Teach that we can pray anytime or anywhere: God is always there to help us. For example, we can pray in a public place like a restaurant or at a friend’s house if something goes wrong, and we can even pray at school. Next, share the story of Enos. You can summarize it from Enos 1:2-16. Be sure to share that he

prayed all day and all night and the Lord answered his prayer. Testify of a time God answered your prayer. Lastly, give each child a prayer sandwich and teach them how to pray by stacking  the sandwich pieces on top of each

other and read each one aloud as you do. At the end, staple your sandwich together and let your children flip through it again and again to be reminded of how to pray.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.
