The Gathering of the Faithful

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 15 | April 8-14 | Jacob 5-7

The Gathering of Israel is one of the most significant teachings of Jacob. This week’s lesson helps families understand the power that comes from keeping commandments and striving to follow Jesus Christ, with each action of faith drawing us closer to Christ and His saints. Jacob also shares an encounter he had with someone trying to challenge his faith.

There is so much we can learn from Jacob’s experiences in our own lives. Activities from this week’s lesson, such as mini books and “Service Tic-Tac-Toe,” will help your family appreciate the teachings of Jacob and grow in your faith.

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

The elementary bundle is a treasure trove for kids aged 4-11, featuring activities that instill key principles. Let’s explore three highlights:

Building the Olive Tree

Scripture Study

Read or listen to Jacob 5 with your family and talk about the interpretation of this allegory as you build the “Olive Tree Craft” and complete the “Olive Tree Allegory” worksheet. Display your olive tree to remind you of this allegory all week.

Family Goals

Hands-On Activity

As a family read and discuss Jacob 6:4-5. Jacob uses this opportunity to teach the Nephites and us that God remembers us and is going to keep His promises. His hand is always stretched out continually to us, inviting us to repent and return to Him. Then have fun doing the activity to teach your family how Christ helps us reach our goals.

Serving Others

Surprise Activity

Color and put together your “Jacob and Sherem mini book” as a family, or let each child make their own. Read the story together. Then, sing “Faith” (Children’s Songbook, pg. 96) and talk about how Jacob had great faith. Discuss how you can stand for the right when people challenge your faith.

Talk to your children about how we can all be missionaries now. Then, play the “I Can Be Missionary Now” board game together (game details are provided with the lesson). This will aid in a discussion about how your little ones can be missionaries every day. Set a goal to do one thing this week to be a missionary!
