Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 27 | June 21 - June 27

We have multiple Come Follow Me subscriptions and multiple activities in each subscription to help you find what works best for your family. Our goal is to help families come closer to Christ and we’ve worked really hard on providing more options to help achieve our goal.

Toddler Come Follow Me Activity

Teach your children that they can choose to be baptized when they turn eight years old. Help them count to eight on their fingers or count 8 birthday candles. Count how many more birthdays they will have before they turn eight. Read together D&C 68:27. Decorate the “birthday cake” with markers, fingerpaints, stickers, etc. and glue 8 candles on the cake. Sing the song “I Can’t Wait Until I’m Eight.”

Simplified Come Follow Me Activity

Read Doctrine and Covenants 68:25-28. With your family talk about the importance of baptism. With younger children you can practice with them being dunked in the water. Then color the “I Can Be Baptized Coloring Page.”

CREATE IT ACTIVITY:

Take a walk outside and listen to all the sounds you hear. When you go back inside let everyone share what they heard. Try not to repeat any sound. Read D&C 68:3-4. Discuss how we can use our ears to listen to the words of the prophet. Show the “Prophet and Apostles Print” Think of times as a family when we hear the prophets and apostles speak. Finish by creating a “Big Ear Headband” for each child.

SEE IT ACTIVITY:

Watch the video titled “Chapter 23:The Doctrine and Covenants (August-November 1831).” Discuss how the Doctrine and Covenants was first called The Book of Commandments. Later it became the Doctrine and Covenants. It contains revelations from God. Read Doctrine and Covenants 67:4, 9.

The Surprise Activity will pair well with the video. Use “The Doctrine and Covenants Teaches Us Page” to review what we learn from the Doctrine and Covenants.

“Yet Will I Trust in Him”

Job had many blessings in his life: a large family, a devoted spouse, and wealth that provided plenty and more for his household. Job gave thanks to God for his blessings, but even when nearly every blessing was taken away, he did not lessen his faith. Instead, as those around him said his faith had been a waste of time, Job showed his trust in the Lord by exercising Christlike patience and long suffering. Eventually, Job’s faith was rewarded, and his trust in God was justified.

“Thou Art Come … for Such a Time as This”

Esther never set out to be queen of the most powerful empire in the world. Born into servitude as part of a conquered people, the best life Esther could have hoped for would have been a quiet life far away from the homeland of her ancestors.
