“They Were Steadfast and Immovable”

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 23 | June 3 – June 9 | Mosiah 29-Alma 4

The age of the kings has ended with Mosiah as Alma the Younger becomes the first chief judge of the Nephites. Founded in the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the new Nephite government gets off on a rocky start with a civil war breaking out. Alma himself takes up the sword to defend his people, praying for peace as both prophet and military leader.

When faced with great changes in our own lives, we can also pray for guidance while moving forward with faith. We must call upon the Lord and thank Him for even the smallest of blessings.

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

The elementary bundle is a treasure trove for kids aged 4-11, featuring activities that instill key principles. Let’s explore three highlights:

Scripture Word Scramble

Scripture Study

Prepare your Scripture Word Scramble, then gather your children to read Alma 4:19. Read slowly and let your children see if they can unscramble the words to put the scripture in order. Talk about how sharing your testimony is important. Share your testimony or an experience when someone else’s testimony helped you. See details on the activity page.

Take What You Need

Surprise Activity

As a family, read Alma 1:30 where it talks about how the people were kind to everyone. Discuss how we need to be kind to everyone. Print out a “Take What You Need” tear away sheet and finish filling out the slips with nice compliments. Cut along the dotted lines, leaving the slips attached. Then take your paper to a local library, grocery store or other public board and post your tear-away sheet to spread kindness.

Kindness Cookies

Hands-On Activity

Read Alma 1:21-22, and 25 together. These scriptures talk about how people that were not in the church were mean to people in the church, but the people in the church were still kind to others. Sometimes, we are not as kind to people in our own families as we are to others. Work on being kind in your own family by filling a jar with “Kindness Cookies.”

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams. The toddler bundle Includes a full lesson plan with THREE activities that align with scripture written by an early childhood educator. These include a coloring page, another printable activity, and a movement activity that helps young children understand the scriptures. Here are a couple of highlights from this week’s lesson.

Nourishing Body and Spirit

Coloring Activity

Tell your toddlers that today you get to talk about nourishing your testimony. Ask, “What does nourish mean?” It means to provide the food or other substances necessary for growth, health and good condition. So to nourish our bodies we eat a variety of foods. Ask your children, “What are some different foods you like to eat that nourish your body?” Let children respond. “Wonderful! Now let’s talk about what it means to nourish your testimony. What is a testimony? A testimony is sharing what you know to be true about God and Jesus. So how can we nourish or provide our testimonies with things they need to grow? Let the children respond. Summarize what is happening in Alma 4:8-10 and 19 aloud to your children. Teach that the only way Alma knew he could change the hearts of the people was to bear bold testimony to them and that is what he did. Hand out the Nourish My Body and My Testimony coloring page and discuss how we can all nourish our testimony so it becomes strong just like Alma’s. Let children color as you point to each item and learn together.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.
