A lot of the reading for this week are Lehi’s words and counsel to his family before he dies. Read the opening paragraphs in the Come Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual on page 22 to begin the lesson. In 2 Nephi 2 we learn that we are free to choose. Discuss what agency means and play the agency thumbs up and down game.
Review the lesson from last week about the Liahona. Consider doing one of the activities you may not have gotten to last week. Discuss how the Liahona directed Lehi’s family to the Promised Land. Complete the mazes.
Read the scripture print and complete the fill in the blank page. Discuss what these verses teach us.
The coloring page this week is one of the bonus ideas. Read the scriptures listed on the summary page as the children color the picture. Then discuss the question at the bottom together.
Another bonus activity includes spelling the word “joy” with your bodies and then handing out an almond joy candy bar with the handout included in your materials. See the summary sheet for the scriptures and discussion questions for this activity.
This week also includes a scripture marking guide. There are two versions. One is meant for younger children with assistance from a parent. The other one is meant for older children to complete individually. Both versions are meant to be a guide for marking and studying their scriptures.
