Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 26 | June 22-28 | 2 Samuel 11–12; 1 Kings 3; 6–9; 11

Going from tabernacle to temple was a big deal for the Israelites. So big, in fact, that even those building the temple had to be worthy of the task. David’s sin in his lust for Bathsheba disqualified him to build the Lord’s house, resulting in his son Solomon completing it. For building the temple with a pure heart, the Lord promised Solomon that so long as he kept the commandments, “I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people” (1 Kings 6:13).
Our family’s focus should also be on the temple. Even if we don’t live near a temple, being prepared to enter the House of the Lord extends some temple blessings to us. We can feel the Lord’s presence in our homes and see His hand in our lives when we keep His commandments, repent, and have faith in His loving covenants.

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS
Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities
We have some great activities and resources to help assist you in celebrating a Christ-centered Easter this year! We recommend picking the activities that work best for you and your family. We think just a few activities will allow you to celebrate Easter, but also allow you time to focus on our Savior and what He has done for us. Our hope is that you will find something meaningful for your family to help celebrate this special holiday!
Retelling the Story: Heart Puzzle
Scripture Study
Solomon loved his father David, but he also loved the world. As we’ve just celebrated fathers and the important men in our lives (for American Father’s Day), remind your children that we are all sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. When we know we are His children, we can walk in His ways and love Him. Complete the Heart Puzzle as you read 1 Kings 3:3. Strive to show extra love to both your Heavenly Father and your earthly father this week.

CTR Go Fish
Hands-On Activity
Read 1 Kings 8:58 together as a family, then sing “Teach Me to Walk in the Light” (Hymn 304). Talk about what it means to “walk in the light” and challenge each other to find ways to do so throughout the week. Play CTR Go Fish and look at the scenes on each card. Take time to discuss how the characters in the images are choosing the right.

Temple Coloring
Coloring Activity
The design of modern-day temples and baptismal fonts are inspired by the one described in King Solomon’s Temple. Read 1 Kings 7:23–25 as you look at pictures of temple baptismal fonts. Talk about how doing work for those who have died is a sacred and important service to the Lord. Color the Baptismal Font coloring page, and set a goal to live worthy to enter the temple when you are older.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities
For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.
The Crown
Family Activity
Ask your child what a king might have looked like long ago. A king might have worn a special crown on his head or a robe on his shoulders. Sing “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” (Children’s Songbook, p. 275a). Point out that although a king wore special clothes and a crown, a king who was wise and kind was loved by his people and blessed. King Solomon was a wise and kind king. He prayed for help from Jesus to rule his people fairly. Read 1 Kings 3:9-11. King Solomon and his people were blessed when he sought help from Jesus. Together with your child, decorate a crown. Talk about how King Solomon was blessed and helped when he kept the commandments. We are also blessed when we make the right choices and keep the commandments.
