As a family read and discuss 2 Nephi 5:15-16. Show your family a picture of a temple and discuss the importance of temples. Talk about why it was so important to Nephi to build a temple when they got to the promised land. Watch a video about temples and then have a temple-building contest out of material in your home like cardboard or toy building blocks.

After reading 2 Nephi 4:15-16 (You can read verses 15-35 for more of the story), follow the instructions to make your own “brass plates.” Then use the Book of Mormon Writings page from the lesson to engrave your own words or your favorite scripture onto your plates.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities
For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams. The toddler bundle Includes a full lesson plan with THREE activities that align with scripture written by an early childhood educator. Temple Treasures: Scavenger Hunt Adventure
Interactive Exploration
Set up a scavenger hunt around your home using pictures of temples. Then gather your children and begin by singing “I Love to See the Temple” (Children’s Songbook, pg. 95). Read 2 Nephi 5:15-16 and teach that Nephi and his people built temples. Next, give each child a pair of binoculars and invite them to go on a hunt with you to find temples around the house. You can gather all the pictures and return to the living room. Sing a song of your choice about temples and this time let each family member hold a picture of a temple (from the hunt) as you sing.
