Stand Fast in the Faith of Christ

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids

Week 32 | August 3 - August 9

This week’s Come Follow Me Lesson is formatted different than usual. There are a lot of chapters to get through, Alma 43-52. We outlined the lesson to allow for 2 chapters per day. There is an activity everyday to go along with the chapters you read. As always, be prayerful about what your family needs to learn and study about this week.

There are a variety of ways you can learn from the war chapters. Some of our ideas include: Listen to the chapters using the gospel library app, read it as a family taking turns reading verses or use the simplified Book of Mormon, watch the Book of Mormon video that goes along with the chapters, summarize the chapters (this is especially applicable to those with younger kids that may not be able to read or have shorter attention spans), or act it out.

Be sure to follow along closely on your lesson summary page and the activity books. There are two activity books included in your materials. One is recommended for kids age 3-6 and the other for ages 7 and up.

“The Lord Is My Shepherd”

In modern times, the Lord declared “the song of the heart is a prayer unto me” (Doctrine and Covenants 25:12). In ancient times, songs, or psalms, were used to praise the Lord and remember His covenants with His people. Many Psalms are attributed to King David, whose relationship with God is one of the most detailed in the entire Old Testament. It’s no wonder David is thought to be the author of so many songs that praise the Lord for His strength, His mercy, His patience with His children, and His eternal love for all mankind.

“Yet Will I Trust in Him”

Job had many blessings in his life: a large family, a devoted spouse, and wealth that provided plenty and more for his household. Job gave thanks to God for his blessings, but even when nearly every blessing was taken away, he did not lessen his faith. Instead, as those around him said his faith had been a waste of time, Job showed his trust in the Lord by exercising Christlike patience and long suffering. Eventually, Job’s faith was rewarded, and his trust in God was justified.

“Thou Art Come … for Such a Time as This”

Esther never set out to be queen of the most powerful empire in the world. Born into servitude as part of a conquered people, the best life Esther could have hoped for would have been a quiet life far away from the homeland of her ancestors. Yet when trouble came, it wasn’t her beauty or good luck that saved her people’s lives; it was her faith in God. Through her trust in the Lord and her willingness to act in faith, Esther was able to accomplish much more than she could alone.
